Mini-Z article in RC Car Action Magazine.
There is a great article in the latest RC Car Action Magazine on the Mini-Z’s. There are a few pictures from the RCX race back in 2008 as well. It’s great article where the author recommends anyone that races give the Kyosho Mini-Z’s a try and they will soon be addicted. there are some pictures of the cars, a nice RCP Track and talks about the they cars being just as tunable as the larger scales cars.
Pictures of Cristian and Bill C. I'm in one of them as well.
There is also a great article about the Mini-Z Moto Motorcycle in the same edition. Definitely worth checking out.

Yeah I bought that issue. It's great to see mini z's get recognition. The articles they have in it are good and speak the truth.

I thought the article was very accurate and informative. The author even challenged those that thought they were above driving them because they thought because of the size they were simply toys, to pick one up and try them. They also mentioned the year round racing that can be done because they can be run indoors with minimal space requirements.
I agree, it's about time the Z's get the recognition that they deserve.

I've done that when my local hobbyshop used to do mini z. The 8th scale nitro racers would come in and laugh at it till I hand them the radio and they realized the skill it takes to race one of these.

There was a year's worth of Mini-z articles in that issue! On top of the Mini-z Moto and intro to Mini-z racing, they also had a 3rd article on Mini-z transponder installs. I particularly liked how they mentioned the Mini-z racing crowd is also a much friendlier crowd.
I hope coverage keeps growing. BigSquidRC.com started doing articles, now Car Action is doing more coverage. I hope everyone continues to be ambassadors to the scale and allows newcomers to try racing their cars whenever possible!

Friendly?... I hate all you guys!
About friggin time these darn cars get some real coverage! I'm pretty much to the point now where I am fully done with other scales, mostly because of expense and schedule. I just sold my Blitz because I couldn't make any of the races at the local track, plus I really didn't like getting home after midnight.
I've always wondered how some could chuckle when you mention the scale we all run... all RC vehicles are toys, even the full bore 1/8 scalers or some of the huge RC planes I've seen. I've always had an itch to laugh back at them when I seen them unloading a truckloads worth of gear just to race at a track they just drove an hour and a half to, only to have the day rained out halfway through. But I understand that if you love what you do, it doesn't really matter what others think, so I never said a thing. So what if I can fit a whole days worth of racing into a tackle box... It's still racing!
Most racers on here are dying to get more people to race with, and I really hope this article helps. Couldn't ask for a nicer group of racers... you all deserve it!

It only took 10 years.
Glad to see this happen and hope it continues. Clubs also need to refocus on newbie classes in my opinion. The many years have whittled most events down to beginner unfriendly classes.

Box stock with bearings and tires of choice seems like the perfect way to go for newbies, but we all know how bad of an itch one gets to hook-up a car to the maximum. Plus, shops have to sell the gear or there's no income. We'd have a Box Stock class here at our club but we all have the gear already and there's no newbies showing up to make it worthwhile. Plus, we have a bad habit of hooking up every newbie that comes in through the door with all kinds of gear to get them up to speed ASAP.

i agree but don't want to get into stock class rules talk here... that is a cna of worms already open in other threads. just saying that over the years, the focus has shifted from entry level racing to more competitive formats over the last 5 years or so. it's not the same as it was back in the days of the kyosho cup. if we want to rebuild the community with fresh drivers, we need to provide opportunity for them as well. i don't see that happening a lot.
is there a digital copy of the magazine? i'd like to read the stuff.

I was driving a 3Racing Sakura FGX today.
2S LiPo and 17.5T motor. Doing about 60km/h on the straight.
All I can say, I had plenty of time correcting an error......not what I'm used to with my 43T, 4xAAA MR-03....
So if you think that you don't get any practice when you drive Mini-Z I would say that your wrong.
Can you handle GT modified in Mini-Z well, you just have to get your 1:5 superchargednitroboosterracer set up and you can drive that thing great as well.

The one with the traxxas funny car on the cover. Bottom right of cover should mention mini-z transponder installs.
