on youtube someone who works for AM, said kyosho was thinking about making 4wd overland but would be $300 RRP

heres the quotes

Kyosho isn't shipping any at the moment...I'm hoping they're stopping production on the 2wd and starting 4wd production. - Jay

I've talked to Kyosho and they have been kicking it around, but they think they would have to charge around $300.00USD retail. They think no one would by them at this price seeing as how you can get a 1:10 scale off road truck for much cheaper. So I wouldn't hold my breath! - Jay

Wow. I wonder why their thinking that for AWD Monster's and Overlands when it was cheaper doing the MA010? I'd buy one for 250-280, but not sure about 300. I hope they continue to think about it. I'm very surprised we haven't seen this by now considering how long the MA010 has been out. Tell you the truth I expected them almost before 2.4's.

They also need to consider the popularity of the 1/28 scale. Also, have they looked at Radio Shack's Xmods? Sure their lesser quality, but they still made AWD Trucks for less than $300.
I bet it would sell.

250-280 isn't too far from 300, but I still don't see anyone paying more than 200 for one of these (assuming it'll be AM). No one races overlands/monsters and racers are the primary consumer niche feeding Kyosho.

The electronics are actually cheaper on the 2.4GHz. What you are paying for so highly with 2.4, is that it requires a more expensive transmitter. As for the reason why a 4WD overland would be so expensive, it is simply because of parts. The chassis would be terribly complex as well as the suspension, where the MA-010 is not.

I think you all are calculating the price based on what you are seeing in the 03, coming from the 02. This hike in price is because it uses a FAR MORE complex front end. It requires investment in a lot of things such as R&D and new molds for everything except the motor mount and diff.
