Joe

I thought you'd remember the hot dog race.

That turned out pretty good that time we did one at the old track.

Im gonna meet up with Chris Thayer tomarrow and he is going to let me borrow his car. Its the Vette, MRO1, but its got some bling bling. He says it might need some tweeking, so Ill be invading your pit space.

I also heard about your prototype. lol. I want one!

Joe or Trey (or anyone with an educated answer),

That charger I had gotten is obviously a slow charger. Taking more than 5 hours to charge the batteries. Now, the 15 minute chargers I assume charge at a higher amperage. With these mini Zs, is there a power advantage to charging the batteries at a higher amperage like there was in the touring cars?

Not that I have noticed. So long as you have the IC3 cells, you will be ok. You may have a slight advantage in stock class with cells charged a little higher but I doubt it's worth it. The 15 minute charge is more for convenience than anything. I calculated it out and the packs are being charged at about 2-2.5A. Pretty aggressive C-rate, but nothing out of the ordinary in the R/C world. It would be like charging at 8-9A for a sub-C cell, which is high but not unheard of. I would invest in a 15-minute charger just to make the racedays less hectic.

I'm slowly switching to a CE Turbo35 and either an LRP or Reedy PRO for my 1:10, leaving me with a Dynamite left over...is there any way I can use this for AA and AAAs? I was thinking about making a charging bed and charging 4 cells at 2A. Would this work?

I have heard of people doing this with some success. As high as 3 amps has been seen but life of the battery is probably shortened. Most are using the rayovac with better results so far with the 15min charger.IC3,s

That's what I do. Keep a close eye on the temperature though. With cells like these, the peak detection can be iffy (especially with the internal circuitry on the IC3s). If you have a charger with a thermocouple input, then you are set.

Trey - have you noticed any more punch with the IC3s on 15 minute vs. longer charge? Frankly I can't tell the difference with these little buggers.

Good questions.

Ive got a T-30 and a cheapo Dynamite charger I bought for the receiver pack on my gas truck. I guess with these, I dont have to buy a charger. Just use a 4 cell holder thing and let er rip?

And what would the best settings be as far as cutoff, charging amps etc?
