Front suspension sticking on one side

Hello,

I´m very new to the mini z scene, I´ve just took delivery of my Mclaren F1 mini z !
I haven´t even charged the batteries yet to have a go, as I´m a little disappointed that one side of the front suspension is sticking. I´ve searched through the threads on this site and can´t really find anything which helps. I´m thinking the only thing which will cure the probelm is to upgrade the front suspension.

Please, does anyone have any ideas how to fix this problem ?

I would check to see if the steering knuck is hanging up in the small hole of the tie rod. I had an IW02 with the same problem and i used an exacto knife to trim some flashing on the tie rod amd viola, it was fixed.

Thanks Saiyan,

I tried removing some of the palstic from piece MF 05 (Ithink it´s the wheel hub) to make more space for the spring to travel, as I think the spring is sticking. This helped a little but it´s still not ok. I´m afrad to remove too much from this piece as I think it might affect the performance of the car.
When I put some pressure on the tyre, tilting the tyre away from the car, the suspension travel is perfect and the problem is gone, as soon as I release the pressure the wheel hub it returns to s tilted position and I have the problem again.
Does anyone know what this problem could be ? Is something bent or installed incorrectly ?

on my evo truck, I just loosen my screws by a 1/8 turn. that fixes it usually.

I would disassemble that corner of the car and check that everything is smooth. Take the king pin and get an S.O.S. pad. Put the king pin in a dremel or drill and spin it and use the sos pad to polish it. If you do both side you can compare all the parts. This could bring the problem to light. While you have the king pin out roll it on the table and see if it's bent. Check the knuckle for any debris in the king pin hole. If you have too much slop in the knuckle where it slides on the king pin shaft it might be tilting and causing extra friction between the parts. This is called stiction. If the spring is to weak/soft it won't be able to defeat the friction factor and the wieght of the chassis. So that's some thing to check as well. Something is 'hangin up' the movement of the suspension, judt check everything for smoothness and shape and cleanliness. I would also make sure that the parts were installed correctly by comparing it to the other side that works. They might of put something in backwards/upsidedown.

Also if you could post pics of the problem area before, durring, and after dissassembly. We might be able to see something not seen.

The stock front suspension on the F1 sticks no matter what, even with stainless pins (though they help a little bit). This is a function of the high offset of the wheels and short height of the knuckle/pin contact. The solution is Kyosho aluminum steering knuckles with the delrin insert. Smooth as silk with stainless pins, and no binding at all under load.
