I put an Atomic AWD stock motor in my AWD last week and I used some of that fancy low resistance wire that Arch graciously installed on another one of my motors. I think the outide sheathing is silicon or something so it it a lot less rigid. But the wires themselves are a little thicker than the stock Kyosho motor wires.
Anyway, I soldered the "thick" wires onto the motor and put it in my AWD. After a very short time I lost throttle (I can't remember if I lost steering). I fiddled with it for a while and I think the thicker wires pressed on the circuit board somehow causing me to lose power to the motor.
Once I switched to thinner wire, I didn't have the problem.
I just thought it was kind of strange and I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem or knew exactl what it was. I haven't taken the chassis apart yet so I have no idea.
I only use silicone superflex wire in my RC cars. You should be using it to reduce the chances of breakage and to gain wire flexibility.
Heres my setup...I have 18 gauge silicone wire in my car, i have used 16 gauge as well. Does your wire look like mine? I use it from the batts to the ESC and from the esc to the motor.
Now one of the things i have found with the wet noodle wires is that is kind of sticky, or at least more grippy, kind of like 8 degree tires are. And if you dont gently pull the slack out of the motor wires when you are inserting it it can loop up in there and cause a large kink or knot. So as you are sliding your motor up into the pod, gently pull the superflex wire(out the center fin area) to remove it from the motor compartment. Do this and you are good to go.
