Central Illinois GTG 2/11

A small group of us has been racing about every 2 weeks near Decatur Illinois for the past couple of months. So far we have been racing in my garage on 2 wide L RCP tracks in the configuration of the first layout for the online point series. If I can find a larger location I have 3 L tracks we can layout.

Our next GTG will be on 2/11 if anyone wants to join. I have ordered a Core lap counting system that I am hoping will be here by then. If you are interested I can give directions. We are about an hour away from Springfield, Bloomington and Champaign and are a 3 hour trek from Chicago, St. Louis and Indianapolis.

So far there only 4 of us, hoping to hear from some more people.

good luck in finding more people in your location, and we would be happy to have you join in the Online Points series. Even though you missed the first month it would still be fun for you to participate.

Again feel free to contact me if you need any more information.

Brian

Thanks for the info, I already contacted you last night and have gotten your reply. We are looking forward to being included in the series even if we end up being the slowest of the group.

Hopefully the shop here will stock the Kyosho stock motors again. One guy in our group got one and it makes a big difference for our cars since none of us are running the Mini-Z. Two of them have Firelaps, one guy has then new Iwaver 02 and I have both of those and 2 Xmods. The Kyosho stock motor is noticably better than the stock Firelap and Iwaver motors.

I do not expect that there are many people with Mini-Z cars around Central Illinois since all the hobby shops I have contacted do not carry the cars. Maybe I can find some X-Mod people though since the Radio Shacks around here appear to be selling lots.

In reply to one question in your email we do not have a club name or logo yet but will try to come up with something soon.

just race what you have. the best place to purchase a Mini-z in Online. the shop here is great. you will notice a big difference betweend the Mini-z and anthing else you are running.

It will just be fun participating with what you have now too. I look forward to seeing your times in the future.

Very cool ! You can just use the balance of this series as a practice run for the next one ! (last half of 06) It started for me with just two other racers... Setting up at the local Hobbytown helped me out in the beginning with new members. Good luck !

Yeah, we are still getting a hang of these little cars. They are a lot less forgiving to changes than my 1/10 scale stuff.

So far we have not had any luck with local hobby shops, none of them have the space or interest nor do any of them sell stuff in this scale. I still have 1 or 2 to contact though, one an hour away that has at least 1 indoor on-road track.

Any suggestions of where else to post information to get interest?
