YAY ordered an overland!

Im pretty excited about this truck, i cant wait to get it. If anyone is lookign to buy one, buy it here! they give you a free set of bearings and free priority shipping, which if you bought from ebay or direct it would be about 20 bucks for shipping and you still have to wait more than a week to get it!

I wanted to know what kinda hop-ups are worth gettting, im considering GPM shocks, is this a good idea?

no they suck! there the worst hop up u can get. I would get a derlin main gear, x speed motor with a bb motor can, 30 or 40 deg tires (my rear 30s only lasted one set of batterys on the drive way but I was running it really hard) and locking wheels nuts are almost a must. A fith cell is the best home made mod you can do

Glad to hear your getting an overland.

They are the best all around mini by far. I can take it with me on walks around the college campus and chase squirrels thru the grass...its funny

The hop ups you will want are x-speed and idler gear. Get the GPM idler.

My idler gear lasted quite a while but finally wore down

Best place for the Overland is indoor tracks/terrain. If you use it outside make sure you keep the gearbox clean. I think this may have contributed to my idler gear failure.

really, no shocks? I heard of a few people having their shocks crack, so no go?

The delrin gear is just stronger than the stock correct?

is it worth getting the ball diff with the delrin gear?

a set of tires you say, it seems liek the run life is horible on a pair

And last, how do you hook up the 5th cell?

Tahnks alot guys, you're really heloping me out alot.

I would highlyrecomend the knuckles.
(First part that broke.)

Maybe a spare set of servo gears and case, depends on how hard you drive it.(case was second part that broke)
Spare gears are cheap and handy to have around.

The delrin gear is actually a delrin and aluminum gear, when you get your OL
you will see hitting reverse then forward it pulls wheelies,
I personaly love to do this but its hard on the stock gear the delrin replaces the weak part with aluminum.
Defenately a good upgrade.

Cement/asphalt is rough on the tires like warnoffroad said, if you want to run on the surface use the stock tires, the softer
30 deg on are best for carpet /wood/lenolium floors.
But definately another good upgrade.
I personally like the wide rims and tires. If you get alloy rims look for the GPM ones, have heard some bad thing about topcads.

About the GPM shocks alot of people dont seem to like them but I found the good, you just cant fill them with oil because it all leaks out.
I added one drop of oil to mine and it dampens the shock very well.
My jumps improved and so did my handling.
Beside they look great and are an improvment over stock.
I did use the springs from the stock shocks on them though.
I dont believe the car weighs enough for real oil shocks anyway.
It just took away some of the flex the suspension has.
You will see the flex when yours arrives.

Well congrantulations on your new Overland, They are a BLAST!!!

the shop will have most of your list as soon as the gpm order comes in. the kyosho replacement parts are in, you can use paypal.

fiero- i'm just curious, why would you get the upgrade main gear and ball diff? i can understand using the ball dif if you race you ol, but the hassle of taking it out and putting in the upgrade main gear to romp around, through and over stuff is enough to keep me from buying the ball diff.

i learned quikly that the ol does not have user friendly maintainence that the racer's do. it was a an extremely frustrating experience putting all the servo stuff back in the servo case (after falling out when i opened it up mistakenly to put on my alloy knuckles, you don't need to) and the numerous things you have to remove just to change the wheelbase when i replaced my pajero body with the land cruiser.

Dont forget tires. They make a huge diff. Also I break plastic wheels alot, so if your ordering all your stuff you should pick up a pair. I wouldn't get a ball diff, you loose the diff lock option. Also locking wheels nuts are a must, the plastic ones spin them selves off alot.

lol, so the list has been updated

- delrin main gear
- alloy knuckles
- x-speed motor
- M8 conversion module
- servo gears
- servo case
- shocks....maybe
- alloy wheels
- tires(30 or 40?)
- wheel nuts

since the GPM wheels are made wider will it still clear the body when the shocks are compressed?

And which compound should i use? Could you explain teh differnet compounds.

Do they make alloy servo gears? I remeber when i had my mini-z back when it came out i stripped a bunch of servo geears.

I dont think ive ever gotten faster replies in any other forums, thanks guys.

the more degrees the less sticky the tire the gpm rims will rub the body when turning under full suspension load ie shock compressed to limit
