core questions...

quick question...

how many versions did core come out with? in terms of hardware and software?

what is the current core software being used?

if there is a later version (hardware / software) are they backwards compatible?

or will older versions be forwards compatible?

from what i've read almost all cars experience some sort of interference (i.e. steering glitches) when they go through the loop. how can this be avoided or minimized?

sorry for all these noob questions...

and appreciate all the replies...

the latest version is of the software is 1.1.2.0

I have seen 2 versions of the hardware, the only noticable difference being the loop wire is different. (as far as I personally know, this is the only differnce).

they both will run on both versions of the software.

some cars have glitching issues, some don't. I use a helios TX and have had very little glitching issues. is seems that the higher end TX help to minimize the glitching but doens't alway eliminate it. Most of our glitching occurs when the standard KT-5 or KT-2 TX's are used, but it can be a random occurance then as well.

Loop location can also have alot to do with glitching as well has having in timer close to large metal objects.

Mine Glitches sometimes with a Futaba 2PL. Sometimes real bad and sends me right into the wall and other times its mild and not noticable. I've noticed that the best way to minimize the effects of a glitch is to be nuetral on the transmitter, meaning little or no input changes while passing over the loop.

Guys,

Please have your drivers stand far away from the antenna loop. The loop picks up on the 2nd harmonic from the Tx which causes some interference. This should make less glitches. Also, try moving the system to another area in the room as it may also reduce interference.

the 2 versions are very similar. them main difference is that the 2nd one supports PNG files for transparent backgrounds when using graphics to create custom themes.

I'm sure there were some minor changes, but I didn't see any added features from one to the other.

Funny thing is I usually get less glitching if I stand right over the loop. Thats weird huh? I'll try different places tonight with my F1, it seemed to have the most trouble with the loop last time we raced. Thanks for the tip.

got an official reply from core support... thanks again to all...

how many hardware versions did core come out with?
There are two versions. One has a gold solid antenna wire ant the other has a more flexible black wire (current version).

how many software versions did core come out with?
There were two public releases. The latest one uses png graphics files and was released over a year ago.

from what i've read almost all cars experience some sort of interference (i.e. steering glitches) when they go through the loop. how can this be avoided or minimized?
Drivers need to stand far away from the antenna loop. Also, the placement of the core system in the room can have some effect.

that's good to know about the glitch.

My MR02 mini-van was doing this before but I just repositioned my transponder under the body and it eliminated the glitch problem. Not sure if it'll work with you guys car but it did on some of ours.
