Venom Mini Giant?

Does anybody have any information on the Venom Mini Giant? It's 4WD and 1/20th scale is all I know. Anybody know how it performs compared to the Mini-Z Monster?

With bearings, the upgrade motor, and the 7 cell (all of which are very inexpensive compared to many RC option parts), it will eat the MMT for lunch.

Do a quick search for "Venom", there's a decent amount of info about it on the Forums; here's a start:

Also, check out YourMicro.com for a ton more info.

Or I could just show him my VMG.

VMG's rock! No comparison to an MM really. They are far more realistic, and most importantly, they aren't fragile. They can take a real beating and keep on ticking. I have yet to break anything on mine. MM's seem to break if you look at them wrong.

You can't compare them... the way I look at this kind of thing is if you can't race them together then you can't compare them together... and you can't race them together... they are intended for different uses... the MZM used right, indoors on a fairly forgiving surface wont give you problems....

Please don't try and compare one to the other... it's just a matter of what you want. Myself, I don't own the Venom, yet anyway, but I am a mini-z freak so if it were me I would purchase the monster first... based on scales and it's ability to run on the RCP

True, you can't compare them really, but the problem there is the way the MM is built, and with those large tires many people get the idea you can do a lot more with them than they are really capable of handling, so they break them a lot. This happens with OL's as well, but since the tires are smaller people aren't tempted to do quite as much with them. If you keep the obstacles scale and run them indoors then you shouldn't have too much trouble, but they seem capable of handling so much more....until you actually try to. My VMG has taken as much punishment as any 1/10 I've owned, and yet is still small enough to run indoors. I don't know why you'd want to run either on an RCP track, neither requires a smooth high traction surface to run, and you could run a VMG on a wide RCP track just fine, but not the mini tile track.

Well I'll be getting probably either a VMG or a MMT for racing... I know you're probably saying "Why not just get an MR-01 or -02?," but I like monster trucks and the 'I can run over you to pass you' kind of thing. Also off-roading is cool, but my friend is getting a McLaren F1 so he won't be able to off-road with me. I know it's hard to compare different scales... I never thought about Z's being unable to go outdoors. I am still undecided... I really don't like the body on the VMG... I love the body on the Mini-Z Monster, but it's too small to retro-fit to the VMG...

Is this organized racing or just bashing around with a buddy? If it's organized racing they aren't going to let you run an MM with F1's or Racers, probably not even with OL's. Even with a buddy seems kinda silly and not very fun for him.

An MM can go outside, it's just not as capable as a VMG. If you mean Racers and F1's, well, that's correct, they need a smooth surface to run on. A Racer can be modified to run rally style outside, but won't have near the capabilities of an MM.

I wouldn't let your choice come down to bodies! Bodies are easy enough to change. I have a HPI RS4 Dodge Dakota body on my VMG, many put the H2 and Panel truck bodies made for Mini-T's on theirs. What concerns me is that you said you want to race this truck. I don't see racing against someone that isn't running something similar. Even if your local track has an MM class they aren't going to allow a VMG in it. A VMG would pulverize an MM in a collision. LOL! If you need something for racing you really need to find out what classes there are available and how popular they are. It's a good idea to race in one of the more popular classes, it's much more fun running against 4 ot 5 other cars than just 1 or 2. If you want something to just bash around with I can't possibly over-recommend the VMG.

Yeah I know MT racing sounds stupid . I don't think I want an MMT anymore. It seems to me that the VMG has more bang for the buck. But then again my friend will be driving a McLaren. Maybe I should just get an Enzo... That seems more practical.

Ya, if you want to race with your friend get something comparable, ideally an F1, but an MR02 might be pretty comparable. MT racing really doesn't sound stupid, in fact our club does it, but we do it like the real MT racing. That is each truck runs on separate but identical courses and single lap. The races are over real quick but they are fun. We typically run best out of ten.

It seems like the Monster has TONS of upgrades available, but the MG seems to have very little. But from what I've read all the MG needs are new shocks, maybe new tires, the hex battery pack and a new motor. And a new body . I saw a picture today comparing a TLT-1, Mini-T, Mini-G, and Mini-Z. I kind of like the idea of a pocketable MT. (That would be the Z) I still need to gather more info.

Gallery TNB contains a photo of my Traxxas T-Maxx, Losi Mini-T, Venom Mini-Giant, MMT Type 2, and an Overland all next to each other. That stock VMG body is one ugly body then I guess that is why I changed it.

Thanks. Here is another photo but this time with two C5R bodies with the chassis exposed--street tires this time and the old stock engine in it instead of the Sirio 3.0. I used to have a matching fuel cap too but it wouldn't seal properly, so it was back on with a stock cap.
