Ball Bearing Install

Hi guys/gals

I just got into mini-z and finally got my first one today. With this, I also ordered the 7 piece ball bearing set. The question I have is, do the ball bearings need to be lubricated or are they factory lubricated? I look forward to continuing my journey inthe mini z world with you guys/gals.

Although the bearing are lubricated, you may still need to add the bearing oil, because it may dry out or lost.
I race my car for 3 - 8 hours every time I play, so I will add bearing oil everytime I finished racing.

Most bearings for the Z, I thought was a bad thing to add the oil too... since some of them are not designed for it.

I don't think the additional oil matters that much one way or another since they are sealed, but don't go crazy with the oil and try to use a VERY light oil, since the balls are tiny inside.

Sealed Bearings

Welcome Scoobaru

You do not need to oil the bearings as they are sealed units.
Do not immerse them in benzine, diesel or any petrolium/synthetic based cleaning fluid, as you will destroy them.

Just keep the grime of them by cleaning them with a toothbrush and so on..

Putting the bearings on the wheel

Does the bearings fit in nicely into the wheel??
Is it loose or snug fit?

I have D****** bearings and GPM wide wheels.
And I had to JAM them in with a lot of Force.

Is this bad?

Thanx

if you punded them, bad, if u just pushed slightly hard.. not so bad.... if u hit or pushed them with someting metal, hard enough to dent them then thats too hard, the inside might be damaged, but it will likely still work if its spinning nice and freely... the trick is to start it on the shaft nice and straight. Also if you were hitting it ReALY hard, you might have been craming the 2mm hole bearings onto the 3mm shafts

Bearings

Hey Drac.

I don't know. I'm not sure if it's because the bearings are from D******, and the alloy wheels are GPM. They are the wider wheels that's for the CLK. I thought maybe it was metal bearings on metal wheels that made it tight, or they are just not compatible? After POUNDING THEM in, one of the wheels ended u not spinning freely at all. It wouldn't really spin at all.

I think I need new bearings, but how will I know if it will fit the alloy wheels i have.

And is the Kyosho Ball Diff compatitible with the GPM 313A motor mount?

THanx

I got a set of bearings from some unknown company(came with the NSX, no name just a flat peice of blue foam rubber to hold them) and I ended up cleaning them out just like any other ball bearing on bigger cars. I think the grease inside was too thick as the wheels didn't spin as freely as they did with the bushings. So I cleaned 'em out and added a drop or two of Schumacher Bearing oil and...bling! they run very smooth now. Just remember to re-oil them after every run or every other run, depending on conditions...dust, carpet fuzz, cat hair, etc.
