I tested this part out last Saturday. I don't remember what Philip said about the absolute weight savings, but however much he took off, it was from the outside of the shaft so the effect is enhanced. I'd say that the gain in acceleration is almost as good as a Ti-shaft.
The one thing I REALLY like about it though is that the flat portion (where the left wheel hub bolts on) is extended, so you can use a bunch of washers on the rear axle to give the rear wheels a significant amount of additional offset.
I installed this light weight shaft, but I'm having a problem with the nut spinning loose, It might have something to do with the fact that there isn't the little bar in there to hold the inside diff ring holder.
any ideas of the best way to fix this? I never had this problem with the other shaft.
I tried to pull the one from my Kyosho shaft but I couldn't get it out.
Found out the light weight shaft is 1 gram lighter. Not sure if I really notice a difference in the car but cutting weight there can't hurt so am running with it.

also found out, that it will bend if it gets hit from the side. so stock one is back in for now and will have to order two next time. It was bent on the end were it was hit and also bent in the middle, keep a spare on hand.

You're supposed to pull it from your old diff shaft. Check about 1:30 on the video.
x_zminiracer - how are you getting hit from the side/rear? People should be able to catch you! That's my solution!
Seriously though, durability is a factor to consider in your tuning choices. You have to take into account your driving style, skill level, and that of your fellow racers, track layout, traction level, etc. when selecting parts for your ride.
