bad experience at the Worlds... during practice, first 2 mins of my awd mod being on the track I got scooped by a pan car. Stripped the servo gear and I had to replace it...

I'll have to pass this class (d). Let's see what we have next.

That is one thing that concerns me as well, running with pan cars, they tend to scoop up a car in front of them instead of a much less harmfull bump...

Its not that I dont like the weight rule. Rules are rules, and Ill conform to any rules that are applied at the events I attend. Every one has to abide by the same ones, so its generally always fair.

I just wanted a better understanding of why it is this way. If the hosts choose these weight rulings so that some one can run a fully alloyed car without any type of weight penalty that is fine with me. If there is some other reasoning behind it, Im just curious to know what it is.

Personally I dont think its right to make a fully alloyed car the norm, and the plasti dominated one the rule breaker. That doesnt seem right, but Im not making a living off of my opinion. ATM and PN both need to sell hop-ups to feed their families, so if thats their reasoning for pushing the weight limit up, then so be it. They are the hosts, and they make the rules. Again, I just dont agree with that logic, buf if there is something that makes better racing, then I want to know what, so I can implement it at my local track.

The only other clubs Ive raced at either didnt have a weight ruling, or they had 170g and 180g for 2wd and AWD respecitvely. Thats what I adopted as it made perfect sense to me. If Im missing something I want to know what.

I agree with you. We have no weight limit on our classes, mainly because if you want to lighten the car, there will be drawbacks. Especially because our track is bumpy... so the heavier car is much smoother. I like lighter cars personally, so I have to find something in the middle.

In general, the weight limit just makes for better racing. As they dont want to penalize someone for their choice in body...

2wd stock, you must use either Atomic or Kyosho parts, no other manufacturers. 2wd open, you can use any manufacturers parts...

If I was a betting man I would bet that the

c. 2WD Open Stock
d.2WD or 4WD Modified Open

Classes would be popular for the average drivers.

For the top drivers the other 2 will be popular because only the stock classes have a chance to win the trip.

I don't think most people want to remove all there pn and 3racing parts just to replace them with atomic parts for 1 race.
just the extension kit alone is $30. I would have to pull off Rims, toe bar, springs, knuckes, PN Spur, front upper and rear top cover (used to make weight), heat sink, bearings, and the extension kit
this is only on my AWD.. my 2wd is the same story..

Thanks but no thanks,

Just came back from the PN Worlds race and I am glad I they didn't make me pull off my atomic parts, I guess the discrimination is a one way street.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

c. 2WD Open Stock
Battery : AAA only
Body : Kyosho only
Motor : Stock (hand out # MO-USA)
Minimum Weight : 180g
Min/Mix Wheel Base : 90-98mm
Tires : Mini-Z type Touring Rubber (any brand)
Remarks : Upgrade part open to any brand

d.2WD or 4WD Modified Open
Battery : AAA only
Body : Atomic (AR-125, AR-210, AWD204) & Kyosho
Motor : Any Atomic motor
Minimum Weight : Open
Min/Mix Wheel Base : 90-98mm
Tires : Mini-Z type Touring Rubber (any brand)
Remarks : Upgrade part open to any brand

I have a question on the ground of a handout motor, would a HO-motor run faster, slower or the same in an MR02 compared to an AWD keep in mind that the AWD has more things to rotate right? - my experience tells me it would be slower in the AWD.

I ask this wondering is it would the same spec motor handed for both stock classes
With the same motor the 2wd will run much faster on a high grip track.

With Less grip or a faster handout motor the AWD will narrow the gap.

What you have to understand about Atomic is some of the racers cannot buy PN parts. (not marketed in some countries) The racers in those countries would be at a disadvantage. As you stated the free trip has its price...
all Atomic parts but it sets the field for fairness for all racers...

What I read and from my friends who raced in the finals Atomic treats you like a king when you go over. My thought would be if your a really good racer spend some extra money get the Atomic parts and go for it....
