OrangeLapRC Transponders

OrangeLapRC sold two versions, a single ID transponder for I-Lap or Trackmate and now a Neon IR transponder that works with I-Lap, EasyLap and Trackmate.

Based on limited feedback on Faceballs, the Neon IR transponders work well on EasyLap. I've tested both the single ID and the Neon IR and both suffer from inconsistent detection. they are detected maybe 1/3 of the time which is simply unacceptable. I wired to both ICS port and battery terminal, both with clear window and no body at all and nothing seems to resolve the issue.

Anyone else using the single ID or Neon IR transponders with I-Lap with success?

I have likewise tested the ValuTrans I-Lap/Trackmate transponders (gold button) and found the signal strength is far stronger than all others which can lead to unintended detection from passing lanes. The only one that has never had an issue other than occasionally just dying or being fried are the OG I-Lap transponders.

Given the cost of I-Lap transponders, most club members constantly seek out the clones which are far cheaper and then struggling to then contend with the consequences such as unreliable detection of unintended detection.

I just purchased two of the singe ID OrangeLapRC transponders, and they're both working fine. Raced on two different I-Lap bridges / software. Both are soldered in to PN chassis.

FWIW, a friend and I bought a set of 5 OrangeLapRC I-Lap compatible transponders when they first came out a year ago or so, and only 2 worked. A bad batch of electronics was acknowledged, and our money refunded. Bugs have supposedly been worked out.

Can you share photo of how they are wired?

Iíve emailed OrangeLap and so far no response on there being a bad batch. I have 10 if the single ID transponders and 2 of the Neon ID transponders and all have the same issue with our system where as ValuTrans and I-Lap transponders do not.
