the best burgers EVER are either at PTs Grille, here in wilmington, or at hughe's marina (no, not a boat supply store ). best part is, hughes is 2 mins from my house
tacos? tacos suck. go to a real mexican restaurant. order a gordita. see what they come back with. then look up what gordita means.

Are we forgetting Big Kahuna Burger.... " Now that is a tasty burger..."
Serously, no fast food can compare to the good ol' bar burger. And as far as tacos..... Baja Fresh all the way!!!!

In Ann Arbor we have a place called Crazy Jim's Blimpy Burger. It's hilarious, their slogan is "cheaper than food." You have to order in a certain way or they yell at you. You can get anything from a single to a quint and then beyond. You can get an egg on your burger. I know about 1000 of our members will never get a chance, but if you are ever near Ann Arbor, try it!
Another funny thing I thought I'd bring up for the US readers - you should see some of the wacky stuff that UK chip shops are doing these days. Deep fried Mars bars, deep fried pizza (UK guys, help me out, what is the weirdest deep fried item at your local chippy). The other thing about fish and chip shops is they often have clever names like The Codfather. UK guys tell us your best chippy name! If I had one I'd call it "In Cod We Trust"!

I'd have to say that Red Robin makes the best burger. Its a smaller restaurant chain, so I don't know if any of you's have seen any. Its a bit pricey too; oh well! The atmosphere is great

Wow, you Americans have so many fast food burger outlets! I forget who mentioned Hungry Jacks, but they were correct in saying it's a Burger King derivative. It basically has a limited Burger King menu, including Whoppers, Bacon Double Cheeseburger Deluxe & Grilled Chicken burger and also has what's called the Aussie burger which is a Whopper with egg, beetroot & bacon.
We now have Burger King "restaurants" here in Oz aswell as Hungry Jacks, & the menu is more extensive than Hungry Jacks, but there's only a handful of them. And yes, compared to McDonalds, Burger King & Hungry Jacks rock!
Having said that, I did have the pleasure on the weekend of trying a new burger to Oz McDonalds called the Rajun Cajun chicken burger and can say without a doubt that it's the best burger McDonalds has ever produced.
And whilst I'm on the topic of chicken burgers, Nando's is without a doubt the best (fast food) chicken burger around. Mmmmm,Portuguese Peri-Peri heaven.
But being from Oz, there's nothing better than a homemade, burger with the lot ,fresh from the BBQ with a 6 pack of beer to wash it down. And of course the burger must include egg & beetroot. And preferably Aussie Rules Football on the TV.

when i was in the uk, my mate's fish and chip shop was called "the golden chip"
kinda strange, coz the chips looks more like green than gold...

Down in So. Cal. i went to a place called Islands. Damn that was a good burger. At least they can actually cook what they advertise. It looked the same on the menu as it did on my plate. We also have a place in Idaho called My Father's Place. One of my friends owns it. they make the best burgers ever. And their fry sauce................Out of this world! You want a milkshake and they have almost every berry, right there nice and fresh. Strawberry is my fav. Their is only one of these restaraunts and it is themed after a 50's drive-in with betty boop and everythin. The Juke box is sweet. We rigged it so it is free. We go there for the lunch special, and 4 bucks will get ya a Nice juicy burger, large order of fries, and a soda. Man i love that place. Good Fish n' Chips to. it is actually halibut, instead of cod.
Think i will go there for lunch today.........................
Fries ice cream is the best.
For tacos, I would have to say El Gallito's, Down in Palm Desert, CA. Very Authentic, and very good. it was hot and fresh

well, seems like we're all comparing gourmet burgers to fast food
burgers to ghetto hotdawg burgers
it's like comparing mini-z's to mrs4's to mini-x's...
hehe...i still say, the best fast food burger would
be in 'n out....
http://www.in-n-out.com/
gourmet burgers, not really to my taste...
and ghetto hotdog burgers....i still think the
street vendors in nyc are the best, dunno, maybe it's the
environment and eating it on the street that adds to the
ghetto burger taste...

mmmm.. homemade burgers fresh off the bbq *drool*
as for purchased burgers, i'd have to say a place here in Perth has the best burgers i've ever had. its from a little side of the road all night (well almost) burger joint called Alfred's.
its basically a hungry jacks (aka burger king) style burger with the lot but they use a homemade style beef pattie which you can get cooked to your preference and if you want you can get the bun toasted.
its right across the road from a pub and on cold nights they've got a fire pit thats always a raging inferno

WHHAAA???!!?!?
Hey, no one nominated Fudruckers (sp?!), they are pretty good aren't they? Also, Steak and Shake's 'Frisco is a classic, one of the most enjoyable fast food places there is.
