MR-01 PCB on a replacement MR02 chassis

If/When Kyosho introduce the replacement chassis for the MR-02, (in the usual array of candy colors), would it be possible to mount an MR01 pcb onto a MR02 chassis????
I'm just thinking out loud here. I dont want to spend on a mr02, but was thinking of building a hybrid with the old esc, and the lower batteries...

As I have told others via email:

Chassis set $10-12
Might as well go with a clear-colored chassis... (the gray one might be
cheaper but you only get the one piece, so it realy costs more) - this
would be all the battery covers and servo supports etc...

Front Suspension Part Set $5-7
All the plastic parts in the front end, and bushings i think.. the king pin
clips etc...

Servo Saver Set $6-8
The servo saver dont come with the chassis etc...

Rear Shock Set $6-8
If you realy want it... not a nessessity to make the car work... and its
cheapy

Motor Pod Set $4-6
Not needed if you dont plan to run the enzo body... would need a MR01 motor
pod and susp plate to run other bodies...

Differential Set $7-9
Same as the motor pod, dont need it unles you plan to run the enzo.. the F1
or MR01 diff does NOT fit the mR02... even if its same length as the MR01..
the offset of a part is different enough to make it not fit...

Screw Set $4-6
Might as well get colored a screw set, even if it is a more...

Front Spring Set $7-9
-- since it dont come in the suspension set... (i dont think)

King pin set (stainless) $5-7
Wont work with out king pins... might as well get te stainless ones.

Tie Rod Set $5-7
I dont think any of the above parts include a tie rod... so might as well
get the set of 4...

TOTAL: $59-$77 range...
And this is with out electronics...

The electronics would be about 70$ or so... but the MR01 set will sort of
work if your willing to hack it in, might need a wire connector change or
someting, the ones on the MR01 might be too big to fit inside...

Thanks Drac.

Means that the servo gears are the same right?

Hey Drac that is interesting. are you by chance going to buy some of these parts and selling this Hybrid MR01/MR02 so we can make our own MR-02 without spending an arm and a leg. to get the real one? hehe i'm lazy and don't want to buy everything or shop for best deals.

I once offered to order just the parts as part of my Enzo Group buy but its too late now... it will have to wait till the next group buy to piggy back them... (the back to the future delorean, wich is out now!) or wait till david stocks them here in the shop...

If enough people are interested though I guess I could do a mini-group buy for just the enzo chassis parts, this would take a while since almost no one has the exact parts i want to order instock so might as well wait for David to get the parts...

but honestly I think your better off buying a readyset and parting it out your self right now.... 145-160$ sell the TX, sell the body, sell the electronics (better to sell your used MR01 set to a rookie/newbie on a budget and keep the MR02 esc).

I will only part out readysets when I find them CHEAP... this is because all the parts dont sell, so I get stuck with a lot... especialy MR01 chassis the Perfex (old one) I am swimming in.. I need to get rid of them so I can start buying readysets to part out again...

As for the servo gears... 1) yes they fit, 2) I forgot about them -- so might be other parts I forgot.. like antenna etc...

One thing with taking the readyset apart...the new Tx doesn't have a servo reversing feature so only mini z owners would buy them unlike the old Tx

Did it with these parts I bought from a Japanese site:

MZ201 MINI-Z MR-02 MAIN CHASSIS SET
MZ202 MINI-Z MR-02 SMALL PARTS(FOR CHASSIS)
MZ203 MINI-Z MR-02 FRONT SUS PARTS SET (tie-rod included)
MZ204 MINI-Z MR-02 MOTOR CASE SET
MZ205 MINI-Z MR-02 SERVO SAVER ASSEMBLY
MZ208 MINI-Z MR-02 SCREW SET(BLACK)
MZW201 MINI-Z MR-02 FRONT SPRING SET

Didn't get the rear shock set and springs as I am using the made by GPM.

A little over $30 for everything -- shipped. Save a little more if you use your MR-01 motor pod and diff.

Nice

Donut, I have a couple of questions.
* Did the MR01 PCB need any modification or was it a direct fit?
* Does the Mini-Z handle considerably better?
* Do you know if the MR01 Kyosho oil shock fit with the MR02 Chasi and MR01 motor Pod?

Also, what are the chances the shop here can get all of these parts and create a "package" for those of us that wish to make the "partial" jump to the MR02, given that we have quite a bit invested in the MR01 and there are not many hop-ups available for the MR02.

Thanks

there are not allot of hop ups available because not allot are needed. that is one of the beauties of the 02...it has significantly less parts which is a godsend....now if kyosho could only do that with the overland.

i would recommend changing to the 02 chassis if your not going to flip for the whole rtr. it's a much better setup and you can use the 01 motor pod and existing bodies. if you can manage to get the parts for as cheaply as donut did, it's well worth it. i'm just as curious to find out if the 01 pcb will fit easily as well...

hey donut...

i've got a question....

will the mr01 board in the mr02 chassis eliminate the steering twitches???? i'm thinking the servo saver might be able to do this...

there's somewhat an added bonus using the old mr01 board... you get to use external turbo's...

Unfortunately, the twitching is a (mal)function of the electronics . I have a feeling the twitching might be more pronounced in the MR-02 since there is less play in the steering mechanism...just a theory until tested on the track .

Donut maybe since u have the parts in hand, you can tell me which package the following parts came in:

Servo Gear Shaft/Axles
Wondering if they come with the chassis or servo saver, I am expecting neither... any one doing a MR01 conversion could likely use the shafts from their mR01 servo I guess...

Stock king Pins?
Steering Knuckles?
Front Stock Springs?
Are they in the front suspension part set? (i dont see them in photos).

The front suspension part set has the tie rod, I see.. so dont have to ask that . one less part set to buy .

drac...

i've seen the servo gear shaft axles (on a jap site)... kyosho sells them separately 3pcs/pack for the mr01... don't know if the mr02 uses the same length... i guess donut would be the guy to ask...

I used the servo axles from the MR01. The servo saver comes with one long shaft not found in the MR01.

Stock king pins & Steering Knuckles --> --> MZ203 MINI-Z MR-02 FRONT SUS PARTS SET
Front Stock Springs --> Got the optional MZW201 MINI-Z MR-02 FRONT SPRING SET that comes with soft, medium, and hard springs. Stock springs not included with any of the other parts I got.
