Zround setup question

I got my Easy Lap timing system today and got the bridge sensors, interface and transponders set up. I downloaded Zround to use as the race software.

When the transponder goes under the bridge, the interface lights up, so I know the system "sees" it, but I'm getting an error message on the Zround software that says "Easylap COMPORT [] Cannot be opened. COM Port Error: Unkown Error #123" I also get a pop up box saying "EasyLap Decoder disconnected.

Can you tell me how to fix this?

I am not familiar with that error, but in Zround you need to go to the set up menu and select "Robitronic" USB as the lap counting system. The EasyLap on Zround does not work with the system you have. Next click "connect" and there should be a green "light" that comes on in the upper right hand corner of your screen. Then you should be in business.

There are two Easylap versions:

- Serial port. Is connected using an USB plug but it really exposes a “virtual serial port”. You must check the “RS-232C” option and enter the FULL serial port name, please go to the windows device manager to locate the right comm port.
- USB native interface. You must check the “USB” option. Nothing more to configure.

Based on the error message, it seems you have chosen the “RS-232” version but the Port option was empty.

Depending on your device version you must use one of those options. If you are not sure which is, I think the USB version doesn’t need power supply as it is powered through the USB cable.

Using both the Robitronic USB or EasyLap USB should work, if you own the USB version.

Hope it helps, let me know if it works.

Thank you for the help. found the right setting menu and changed it from RS-232 to USB and it started working!

Next question: Now that the cars are counting, sound is not working. Every lap I get this error: DirectSound call failed: 8889000A Unrecognized error value.

I have used sound on this computer with slot car scoring, so its got to be a setting issue. Is it in the software or the computer?

8889000A Could not initialize audio client

Error 0x80046005 is SPERR_DEVICE_BUSY: Hardware device is in use by another thread or process. MSDN Says: in many older systems, audio output devices can be opened only by a single process. In versions of Windows previous to Windows XP, only a single process can open an audio input device. Therefore, SPERR_DEVICE_BUSY will return if an attempt is made to open a device that is being used by a different process or thread. In Windows XP (and higher), multiple processes can open the same audio device.

Please check your sound device are properly installed. If you are using other application working with speech close them and try again.
