hobbycar, did you try to do anything to keep the epochs from flipping? Turn down dual rate, dif tires etc? Its a pain, but you can even change the springs up front.
How was their handling minus the rolling at speed? Same as stock, slightly better, worse?
Sounds like LBRC nailed the speed but needs to work on high speed handling next

I didn't bring any other tires or anything, to be able to tweak the setup, but it was just a case of the speed being so much faster than a normal Epoch that it took a while to get to grips with it; several people drove it and I think after a few dozen laps we were all able to get it around w/out rolling, it's just a case of not driving it like a stock Epoch and reserving the real speed for the straight (on the 2 Ls, it's pretty much WOT the whole way round w/ a stock Epoch).
hobbycar, please post our Epoch pics to http://epoch1-43.com too when you get a chance - thanks!

yeah, I'm sure we could have setup the handling on the super dual-lipo epoch with some tires and/or suspension spacers.

Dave, did Josh pay you for the bearings?
I had a good time last night. Thanks to Chuck for fixing my loose solder joints, as well as Dave and Norman for the help with my rear suspension.
Will - Keep an eye out on Airtronics' web site. They may be clearing out M8s soon. They were clearing out the CX2P awhile ago. I would give them a call monday and see what they have left. Ultimate Hobbies may have a few also.

Sounds like only one of the cars was running, which motor set did it have, orange motors or red?
Also sounds like it had the LiPo pack instead of one of the Kan 180’s, did you try the Kan’s or just the LiPo? As the LiPo voltage goes down the steering control slowly erodes, LoL at first I kept thinking I was just getting tired and slapping a wall or loosing it on a corner but I finally realized that it was just the LiPo's losing voltage.
They do take a bit of getting use to. I ended up going back to the Epoch controller just for the L-H trigger tension switch, with tension on it helps with the needed throttle control. I haven’t had a chance to try the motors in the two cars I sent on a track yet (had to take mine down for the winter), but with the Max and ZZMT dual motor cars I use nearly twice the range of throttle movement as I do on a Mini-Z. Adjusting the rear suspension screw can make a big difference by itself, but since the car’s only a little over 4 inches long there are limits on how fast you can take a turn no matter what you do to tweak the suspension, in the end you have to slow down going into a turn but accelerating out can be fun, I’ve taken 180’s on two wheels.

Yea, nothing makes up for throttle control. When I got my RCP setup, I played with a few driving styles on the epoch. You can try to run it full throttle and because they're not super fast stock, you can make it if you take proper wide turns when nec. I also tried properly slowing for the corner for the turn in and then accellerating out, handled much better that way but takes much more control. I need to get my laser lap timer adapted so I can check average lap times over 5 min to see which style is faster (as driven by me anyway).
I've been switching between the epoch Tx and my rc18t stocker, but I just bought a KO Propo EX-1 Mars from a forum user (not the Mars R) along with the mini-z module, so it should run the epochs. Sadly the Futaba 2pl that is my current radio wasn't compatible, though otherwise a great computer 27AM radio. Will be interesting to see if using a nicer radio (EPA's, expos etc.) will let me tune the handling even further for the epochs.

LBRC, this was the Orange w/ LiPos; I'll be testing them further this weekend, however.

Ok, I will call and give him a reminder.
I wanted to see the Epoch on nimh run. I was thinking on the way home, and the nimh car would have more weight on it to keep from flipping. But I believe runtime would be significantly lower?

Great The red motors have more torque and um, with any luck will be just a bit slower at the top end, or at least not too much faster .

The LiPo pack is about 5 grams lighter than the Kan pack, since the batteries sit low and center it may be one of the factors that give the Kan pack a slight edge in handling. Also when installing the LiPo you have to make certain that it is not interfering with the rear suspension spring before you tighten the screws.
The 340 mAh LiPo run time is longer but so is the charge time, and as a LiPo discharges even though it has a greater capacity and superior current delivery the voltage lowers faster than the 180 Kan NiMH pack which may also give the Kan pack a handling edge on the track. Even with the red motors you should be getting at least 10 minutes or more of racable runtime out of the Kan pack.
With a good timing system and actual racing it would/will be possible to come up with definite conclusions as to which set-up is the actual winning combo.
Probably should find a way to move at least part of this over to Epoch1-43. The poor forum is lonely.

180mAh vs. 340mAh, however, not sure how the Epoch's cutoff behavior would affect this as well. Only had the one Epoch plug with me so couldn't charge multiple at a time.
Got Josh's order now - thanks!

Cool, I am so anxious to get out there next time. Espically because I now have a working car to race!
So are we going to go with a 2x round of HFAY each month and one week of a 'crazy' track or?
Is there a place which we can all go in on a spool of 20ga superflex wire? None of the Hobby shops areound here even carry it.

HELL YEAH! , and I've got to get one of those in my EPOCH ASAP! I was also wondering if anyone has a skyline R-34 body from the spec one collection. Please get back to me if you do or know where I can find one.
