My MR-02 Project (Hot-Shoe-Blue)
Anyone who reads over at ausmicro.com will see this as "old news" but I thought I'd share a pic of my current MR-02 project.
The idea was/is to showcase a product range, but also get a nice looking MR-02 that also drove well and would ultimately be my "regular" runner.
I'm still waiting on some parts to arrive, including a Kawada 40T ball Diff, Kyosho Oil shock and the electronics package needs to be done.
The rest of the car consists mainly of iWaver Alloy parts some genuine Kyosho bits and PN Racings high performance mounts, and tuning parts.
Overall I think my experience so far is to say that iWaver alloy stuff is actually very good, certainly not the worst I've handled. I'm impressed at how good the chassis looks in it's current semi-built state and cannot wait to give it an electronics package to really go nuts.
So far the chassis as it sits in the "built" pic has: - Kyosho Clear Blue Chassis
- iWaver Alloy Heatsinks
- iWaver Alloy Knuckles
- iWaver Alloy Steering tie rod
- iWaver Alloy front bulkhead
- iWaver Alloy rear suspension
- iWaver Alloy T-Plate pivot
- GPM Titanium Screws
- PN Racing MR-02MM mount
- PN Racing T plate
- 3 racing Delrin Servo gears
When I get the next phase completed and move through Performance testing I'll post more!

blue has always been a nice color. much better than purple
looks good aaron. i don't get to ausi much... never seems to be enough time.
i'm surprised no one makes chopped alloy batter covers. i've seen many do this with the stock stuff and it would amke more sense to chop the alloy ones to cut down on the weight.

Thanks, There's two schools of thought about battery clips. One is that they hold the battery in place. the other is that using them as a heatsink improves battery performance and battery "health" for the longer term.
I subscribe to the latter theory - but I'm not a racer as such, and weight is less critcal for me. Although it does give me ideas for a new project
At any rate I'm enjoying just being a guy tinkering with this stuff for once instead of my usual "guy selling the stuff and never having a chance to play with it" so it's all good. I can feel the stress levels dropping already!

What do you think of the quality of the iwaver alloy parts? I would be interested to hear your thoughts on the alloy knuckles and tie rod, particularly how much slop they have, or how they compare to kyosho's parts.

the main reason, not to use those batteryclips on races is the risk of crackling finger nails... they hold too strong and (at least me) would need a screwdriver to pop them out... weight is a minor thing
I do defend the theory, that a fast MiniZ does need at least 190g... that´s also why our race trucks are nor much slowlier than racers, weighing over 80g less... and much easier to control
The iwaver metallic parts I got are pretty good quality (both knuckels and rod). A exact copy of Kyoshos, not much to do wrong. And a lot of racers over here do use iwaver balldiffs, which are also a exact replica ofr a third f the price...
cd, not using aluminium before something breaks appart

The quality of the iWaver stuff is definately a pleasant surprise. The finishes are good, the packaging is good and most importantly the fit is good. I've no doubt there are lighter parts out there but this stuff is readily available and tough.
I do have a slight "notchy" feel in the steering as I turn towards full-lock, but it's smooth still, more like it just needs alittle lubing or a slight polish. As you all know most parts need a tiny bit of finishing to gett he best out of them.
Like most people I only chuck alloy on when somethign breaks but this time around I'm just having fun

I like the look of the new alloy parts. I really like the price! (Even with shipping.)
I purchased all blue alloy and I'm planning on buying all red next. I was wondering can an Iwaver ESC board connect on to an Kyosho chassis?

Thanks for the responses. I don't plan on putting much alloy on my racers, but the way I've been beating on my MZM, it's really just a matter of time before I need to start replacing suspension parts. It's good to know the quality is decent on the iwaver alloy parts, as that certainly makes them a good value for those of us who can't necessarily afford to spend half the cost of a new readyset for a couple of metal replacement parts.

I actually just put a bunch of iWaver Alloy on our test IW04 and have to say in some cases it's beeter than GPM! Big call but as an example the iWaver stuff had neat and clean threads in all holes of the from suspension mount. the GPM didn't etc.
So far have tried IW04 Alloy: Front and rear suspension mounts, Battery Clips, Motor Clip, Knuckles. All seems excellent. The suspension mounts have the three step height adjustment

DBR, I am not sure if the chassis is included, it may just be for the parts... without the chassis.

Agreed I'm 99% sure there's no chassis in the deal.

Can't be...a IW readyset itself is $54, he lists the cost as $61.
Too good of a deal.
