im thinkin of buildin a REALLY small track (8'x8'), and was wonderon what i should use for the road surface. i was thinkin about usin some real cheap, real thin carpet, but that may not be the best way to go. anyone got a better idea? about what to use for guard rails? -wrc
The best track I've raced on is the Monster Hobbies track.(See other thread). That track uses regular plywood and some type of filler(plaster) sanded smooth. Then a layer of primer and two coats of rubberized roofing paint. As you know rubber on rubber is the best traction you can get.
As for the rails you could use 1/2 white garden hose. That way you can get the curves and when your car hits the sides it doesn't hurt it that much but it does "catch" the car which is good considering you don't want people to use the sides as bumpers.
