I will have completed the running surface for my first ever track for the mini-z's..here's my problem do not really know how to get the most track on the space I have (and a drawing in scale is needed)
so can anyone help within the next 48 hrs...please !!
track info:
layout size - 8 x 12 feet
lane width - 20 inches ( my choice )
wall thickness - min 3-4 inches (track is foam so I need so thickness to cut it)
so if anyone has a way to design a good track for me (and in scale) I would be forever in your debt !!
I have tried all the track design software I can find and yet nothing will give me a track in the scale that I need..
I'll take a shot at it, in a hour or so..currently have model body parts all over my desk, chips plastic etc, cant get to keybaord andmouse very easily -- new Mini-Z body under way
4x6 cells 1 cell = a square of track width... 20"track+3"wall = about 2 feet... with 8x12 area max number of track width is 4x6 cells... This is why most people cram it down to 18" and only .5" or so for the walls...
Will make a new thread later... right now I have only mounted it, no paint and no parts glued on yet... its going to be extra durrable (I hope) going to be my racing body... but I messed up on the side mounts last night... reason I didnt post a pic of the track layout I came up with, mainly cuz I didnt come up with anything extra special.. with 4x6 with 2 foot lanes, all you realy get is a outside loop and a inside loop, and or a outside loop that swirves to the inside every now and then... cant realy fit any 45 angles in there with out wasting more then 10% of the track space... can the track be bigger? its not realy big enough to bother with an upper level either... but it might work...
if it was 18" with 1" walls.. you'd still be pressed for space, but might fit a pit row, or someting along the edges... extra zig zag space etc... If I come up with a unique layout for that size table and lanes .. I wll post it.
You should try combining some thick sheet plastic for the walls, and cut the foam for the curves... kinda the way one of my track layouts was...
the track is 8 feet by 12 feet not 4x6
and no rush...I just burnt my esc (it is pooched) I messed up when I was changing chassis
now I will have a track and no car..need to find a esc CHEAP !!!
the best price I found so far is 150.00 CAN and a 1 hour drive each way..
I know its 8x12 (96x144 inches) that gives you the 4x6 grid, 2 foot per track width. 2 foot = 24 inches = 20 inches + 4 inches of wall... 3 inches of wall will leave 4 inches extra in one direction and 6 inches extra in the other...
I cell of the grid = 1 "section" of track... IE a 90 degree curve etc...
Attached is picture that shows what I mean by a cell/grid/sector etc... but this track sucks cuz I have yet to modify it to use the rest of the extra Inches... walls are 3" based... wich is 1.5" on either side of the blue line... in some areas they can be thinned etc.. were the track isnt parallel to another lane...
And how much you want for the esc? and how bad is the burn?
I might need scrap components from it and as many other burnt ones I can get. -- Email me for a place to get a cheaper ESC.... I plan to order 6 or so, if I can get 5 or so ppl interested, will save on shipping them all at once. And I might "fix" a few of the areas on the chassis that tend to break as an option .
