transponders and lap counters

What transponders and lap counters does everyone have?

Anyone try this one at rc lapcounter? http://www.rclapcounter.com/

I think a transponder may be my christmas present

We use lapZ in our track. It is very reliable and effective.

Meanwhile we are working on a RFID system that will be publicly available within few months. I guess accuracy will be close to .010-.005 However RFIDs will be cheaper.

The one you referred is very close to lapZ. It is almost a clone. However it is limited to 12Ids where as lapZ has 255 different ids with read-write ability.

I'd go for a LapZ if your club supports.

Its more of a personal transponder I'm looking for...I thought there was one being tested amongst teh members here that would be pretty cost effective for home use...

I have an AMB-it personal transponder, but it's not cost effective and the system to run it is around $3K. However, that is the norm around here if anyone wants to race. That is also what was used for the US Kyosho Mini-Z-Cup.

I think I'm going to get an AMB transponder for my 1/10..i'm sick of chasing around the right transponder from the person who had it before me and forgot to put it back. Thats also what they use at HKS for Z's in chinatown.

I'm looking for a small portable home type transponder...

It is well worth the investment. One of the hardest habits to break is the urge to pick up and return the transponder. After a few race days, it will wear off. Then sit back on all of the people calling out for lost transponders and waiting for them and it is that exact point you will realize the $80 is worth every penny
