DAMZer,

Sorry to hear about your misfortune, but I'm glad to hear you and your son emerged from the incident unscathed.

You know, whenever I've had a wreck and had to contact my company, they were ultra responsive to my welfare and needs. Guess they knew they were going to get back all the money they put out about 5 fold.

I know I'm an inpatient type, ask Dave. But to get this thing rolling and get approval for a rental car, took about all day. The intitial report went to corporate, corporate forwarded it to the home town of the person who has the policy, they found out it happened in another town and forwarded it to the local agent.

Granted the local agent has been very helpful and has a real sweet voice, but I have wasted a day getting everything taken care of.

At least the body shop I chose does great work.

You should hear my dad's problems once the insurance company found out that I passed my G2... (second graduated lisence).

It would have almost been easier to fail, and not have to put my dad through the car-shuffling nightmare.

Don't worry DAMZer, you are not the only one.

The same thing happen to my older Camry about 5 years ago. A lady suffered a heart attack while driving and she slam into the back of my car without even touching the brakes.......

I end up have to called the ambulance for her. She survived the heart attack and I'm glad I wasn't injured.

The most important thing is the safety of your child and yourself. The car did very well to protect you, and that's what they were engineered for. I'm glad you are OK.

I hope your car will be back on the road soon.

Takecare driving,

That's really interesting, I have always wondered about that, what happens if someone dies while they're driving down the highway etc. - glad you came out of it okay!

Thanks mini-z,

The accident happened at a railway intersection where I was stationary waiting for a train to go past. It was in the evening and she didn't have her head lights on... otherwise I would have seen her coming.

If I my car wasn't there, she would have gone straight through the boom gate and got crush by the train.

The impact did push my car forward a bit but she wan't doing too fast.... if she was doing a much higher speed, she would have pushed me through the boom gate and on to the moving train!

Scary stuff!

In Singapore if you use a cell phone in the car you're required to have a speakers and mic system set up instead of having to hold the phone......
