now back on topic… does anybody know where in the world, you could see the most cars that served as inspiration for the kyosho autoscale bodies? if you guessed h.k. you’re probably right… as i don’t know of anyplace that you could see them within close proximity of each other…
to give you an example… i was able to see a nissan skyline, a toyota altezza (in front of the nissan)…
... a subaru wrx (background)…. and an evo (just behind the subaru - out of pic though)… all parked together in one place… it was one awesome site to behold… i just had to take some pictures…
i saw a couple of honda fitts… and toyota vitz’s…. the car that totally took my breath away was a red ferarri modena… the sight and sound… oooh man… unfortunately it was running on the street and i couldn’t take out my camera in time…
in spite of the 4days 3nights… plus the unintended extra 2days 2nights stay (argh.. mumble, gripe, grumble… extra hotel charges… mumble, grumble, gripe… rebooking charges) i had very little time to go around the r/c shops… and my apologies guys… not much pictures… around the shops
here’s one interesting pic for trueno fans… an updated trueno…
however, i was able to go to a racetrack and see how they practice (h.k. style)… at least i got to take some pics… and taken some very short video clips… (hope that somebody can host them…as they are pretty interesting…)
the track is egr… which I was able to go to last time… but this was at a new location… they had to move due to the escalating building rental rates…. unfortunately they had to close down… once again due to rental rates…i heard though they've opened once again and this time they are planning to have another track which will allow 1/18 scale cars (micro's / x-18's and mini-t's)…
at the track i got to meet a guy named david… here’s one particular car that I was able to take a picture of…. It’s a modified mr02… take a look at the chassis… the shock is pretty interesting… something like that of a 1/12 pan car… neat eh?
here’s a body which he recently got was made by his friend a serpent vds body… cool eh? interestingly… i got to see two other bodies like that on the track… they were pretty fast…
overall the r/c shops are still there... but unfortunately some tracks had to shut down...
during my last visit in 2002, there were about 5 tracks compared to about 2 during my last visit...
so i guess you can say that the mini-z business in h.k. kinda slowed down... but if it did, it didn't show since most of the shops i visited pretty much have most of the mini-z parts in stock...
(kinda ironic) so i just guess that putting up a track in h.k. is kinda hard...
well it was fun while it lasted…hopefully next time I go… will have more time on my hands… and be there actually to do some time on the track...
those bodies are awesome!!!
that 3 series bmw racer, the OL pickup, and the 'rally tractor cabs'...
sweet!! were those customs, or some minipower newbies?
