I just got back from PNWC in Singapore. My first ever international mini z race. I joined 2 classes, 2WD Stock 70t and Mod GT. I didn't expect to do well especially in stock 70t class since it was my first time racing in that class, usually its just mod class for me. It was a very enjoyable experience racing against racers from around the world. Overall I got second in A-Main 2wd stock and 7th in A-Main GT Mod. Looking forward to join the next PNWC in 2015....which I heard will be held in Italy(tbc).
Just back in to the country after my Singapore /HongKong tour! good times!
Arriving in to Singapore on Thursday we headed straight to the venue to help set up the track and any othe loose ends that needed attention
Friday was practice and pre qualification practice went smooth for me as i felt that icould be smooth and consistent right off the back
in pre qualification i was able to secure 3rd in the "A" sort for both GTMOD and PANCAR MOD however i noticed that my car was miscounting i was scrambling to fix the situation in post pre q practice but to my dismay was unable to find the problem upon conclusion of the day
Saturday morning practice was underway and i was scratching my head as to why my transponder was still miscounting and with qualifying coming up i was worried.. it ended up being a loose connection on the outside if the timing bridge
with that small problem sorted i was able to secure 3rd in PANCAR MOD and TQ for GTMOD
Sunday morning practice went smooth as i bed in a new set of rxf15 fronts to share between both cars and 4 sets of rrr06 rears 2 sets for each class for the triple A mains
with A1 GTMOD A main approaching i had decided to scuff up my front tires to try to gain an advantage for the beginning if the first round, but to my dismay in the warm up i felt it made my car too twichy and on the start i made it 7 turns till my first traction roll, with my car in this condition for the first half of the race i was lingering in the (6th) position as my car came back i started to make a push to recover and gain as many points as possible
i was able to come back as high as 3rd making a great battle with Keith Lin from Singapore, witha mistake on my part Keith was to get the better of me taking the 3rd position as i ended up the first of 3 in the 4th position
in A2 Philip and I had an epic battle from start to finish and while in the lead i got tangled up in traffic giving the lead back to Philip making a push to get back to the front i was able to close up to 0.3sec at the end of the race taking 2nd with 38 08:00.855 with Philip taking the win in A2 with a 38 08:00.529
A3, knowing what would be needed for me to win a second consecutive PNWC title I knew that i would need to win the A3 round and better Philips A2 time
the start was clean but i made a mistake coming on to the straight giving away the lead to Philip and Carlos on lap 3 there was a mayle in the infield allowing me to get back in to the lead, knowing what time i needed to finish began to push gettin thru traffic clean and making few mistakes,i was able to take the win in A3 but came up 2 seconds short of the PNWC title finishing 2nd overall and Philip Ng taking his 1st GTMOD PNWC TITLE on the 10th ANNIVERSARY of the PNWC! CONGRATS!
PANCAR MOD
A1, rc orange driver from france came out swinging in pancar mod... blistering fast taking the win and i was to finish 2nd
A2 carlos again took the win securing the PNWC title as i DNF with a broken t-plate
A3 with carlos sitting out a3 i was able to take the win securing the 2nd place over all for PANCAR MOD
OVERALL good times in singapore the venue was world class and the competition was stiff
