Replacement FETs for Newer Boards

Do the newer Sports and Sports 2 FHS boards and RWD FHSS boards use the same replacement FETs that we used on AM and ASF boards? In other words, can I use the 8858s and the like on these newer boards? Also do any of them come with 2 pairs, like the ASF boards, or do they only have one pair like old AM boards. Pretty sure the FHS boards only use one pair, but not sure about the RWD boards.

Anyone?

Also, is there an easy way to distinguish between a Sports and Sports 2 board without opening up the car?

Any help is appreciated...

Don't see why you couldn't use the 8858s on a Sport board, they're probably better than the originals. I would just make sure to use the same kind in both spots.

When my LHS closed and I put down Mini-Zs, ASF was the standard. I've never seen any of the newer FHS and FHSS boards and wasn't sure they stuck with the same size FETs. On XMODS, the Gen 1 had the same size FETs as the Mini-Zs, but the Gen 2 XMODS had FETs that were a completely different size... Looking for confirmation that the SP8M4, 8858s, etc will work on the FHS and FHSS boards. Thanks!

I can confirm they are the same size and format. Sports have a single pair of FETS, while ASF boards had one pair on top and one pair on the bottom of the board.

Also, just making sure you know about the Das Mikro ASF clone boards, for around $35, I find them to be much nicer than Sport boards, and they come with 2x and better FETS than a Sport board. if I ever blow a FET on a Sport, that's what goes in. and I find it easier to replace a whole board than doing a FET replacement. Assuming you have an ASF controller.

Thanks for confirming. Do you know about the RWD boards? I run ASF only, but I have a bunch of FETs laying around and race with guys that run Sports and RWD cars, and want to know if I can replace their FETs if they blow them with the stock I have.

I want to say yes, no problem, and I truly believe that to be the case. However, I don't have first-hand experience with that particular situation. I'm 95% certain it would work just fine, as long as you replace them in pairs.

Sports use a single 3010 layer. So half the current capability of ASF. Same as the last AM capability. Enough to drive an x-speed, but that's about it.

https://alltransistors.com/pdfview.p....pdf&dire=_upd
This is the fet on the RWD. single layer.

General Fet info for mini-z
http://www.mini-z-guide.com/mosfet.htm

The resistance of the 4606 used in the RWD is .106 vs .175 of the 3010.

Thanks! So the FETs I have can be used to replace the FETs on the Sports boards and the RWD boards. Good to know!

Yes, it is a similar pinout for the package.
