hard to believe those are widely popular in Japan... the focus is clearly not on american car market.

I imagine the process of licensing products is difficult and protracted which is possibly why we don't see more cars that we want. Perhaps Kyosho has approached various auto manufacturers and asked for their blessings, only to be turned away or discouraged by unreasonable demands.
All that said, bleh!!! The last time I was genuinely excited about a new autoscale was the McLaren 12C. Everything since has been underwhelming.

there has been some information provided as to how Kyosho selects models and yes, it very much has to do with licensing. you would think ford/chevy/gm would be all over it though. they license so much toy garbage already.

Economies of scale is my guess. They (Ford/Chev/GM) might demand a big royalty payment up front and then a percentage of each product sold. For toy manufacturers this probably isn't a big deal since they plan to make a few million of them and then push the inventory off to suppliers and make selling it their problem, so there isn't much risk. Given how long it takes Kyosho to restock some Mini-Z items they probably only make *just* enough to meet demand and carry very little overhead because demand is modest. It would not make sense to pay a huge royalty fee for 10,000 Autoscale bodies given how expensive they are getting already, especially if they release a dud that nobody likes.

the up side is, new bodies! it's a big uptick, in large part due to the new chassis but i'll take something over nothing. i'll take re-issue over nothing. I keep hoping Kyosho will release a poll for requests like they did many years ago before we got the influx of us market autoscales.

I've been hoping for a white Skyline GTR R32 N1 re-re since the release of the original ICS set that came with the body/wheels. This will look great on my MR015 ASF .
Toyota Prius?!?!?! c'mon Kyosho; plenty of LMP1 cars within the past few seasons you could have picked from Toyota's stables. Even the early 2000's Celica would have been better if you're looking for a FWD car. I don't know what is more sad, Toyota with no sports car in the line up or Kyosho picking the Prius from Toyota's line up.

from the pictures, and from what i've read... looks like the new mazda and prius will have a LL chassis setting... a bit kind of odd to me... i was thinking that the mazda would be a M, and the prius either a M or L at the most... having it at LL just looks like a bit bigger scale car... maybe closer to 1/24... but of course they are all based on pictures...
however the new 911, even at a M chassis setting, looks a bit bigger compared to the older 911...
wondering what type of rims they will be... awd rims? and offset?
also wondering what chassis setting the new nsx will have... if it's anything like the previous, hopefully LL... rim offsets?
garage hiro has started coming out with body kits for these new bodies... and boy they look pretty cool...
wondering what kyosho will be coming out with next...
guess you can say that i've been doing a lot of wondering lately....
