After ~5 minutes of use, my 04's steering will lock to one direction. I can move the wheels centered, but it immediately springs back to lock. After opening the servo case, I found that while the tie rod can move thanks to the servo saver, the pot/motor stays locked until I physically recenter the saver itself. I'm tired of doing this every few minutes of play.
Because it functions normally for those first 5 minutes and is centered correctly initially, I do not believe it's the pcb board pot. So my question is, is this a problem with the servo pot (as in I should replace it with a Yeah racing one) or will upgrading the wires to the pot fix this?
In addition, I hear a jittering noise whenever I move the steering wheel on the transmitter. It sounds like the servo motor triggers slightly, even if I do not move the wheel on the transmitter enough to get the wheels on the 04 to move. Is the sensitivity on my transmitter set too high, or this typical of these vehicles? I do not (yet) own a kyosho mini-z, so I have no idea what I'm experiencing is normal or abnormal.
I searched around for answers, but as far as I could tell, most steering lock threads were from issues on start-up and were fixed by adjusting the pcb pot. Thanks for the help fellas.
If it goes into lock on one side only and you dop hear servo noise inside at that time ( a kind of whirrling sound) then you probably have a broken tooth on the #1 servo gear....replacements are cheap, about $4
