Gen1 Z-Mod Pontiac Firebird - Purple by ©targetingxmod

First:
Setup for carpet track:

-Front Diff almost locked, +100wt silicone oil on diff gears (makes cornering much more controlled)
-Rear Diff almost loose, just normal lithium 1:1 grease on diff gears (makes cornering much more conttrolled)
-Front springs stiff (Blue ones from Xmods kits) (makes steering better and controled)
-Rear Springs medium (Yellow ones from xmods kits) (makes steering on the back, easy, for the front)
-Front Tires more then 30ş. Medium soft compound. (in here, softer will turn agressevely, hard will not steer at all.....)
-Rear Tires really soft to grip, less then 10ş. Softer or very soft compound (GRIP an more grip, always needed for control)

Second:
Well i got this second hand in my home country! And i decided to make it special! Like all my xmods. Stock xmods are "toys". But they got a hell of potencial for a REAL RC's. At least in Micro versions i say!
But you all know that.

This video is the promotional x-mods gen1 video... i wonder if there is the evo version??
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PUSkP...eature=related

-The license comes flipped... so!

-Licence plate right!

-After wash it i puted some wax and put some antena wire that doens't come with...

Buckets of GPM alloy because the plastic in xmods are "crap" and alloy is the way to go RC. Electrics is the last thing i do, at least on this one

Ok... back to bussiness...

-Who said GPM? Now is Carbon fiber time... at least on front deck and back!

-Carbon is so light, so strong, so beautiful! So sweet!

-Carbon front deck!

-Carbon back deck!!

-Good view? I think, yes!

-Guess what... POWER time!

-Do not forgeting this cable for the Li-fe baterys!

-Some customs to fit the li-fe ones! (not pictured but i cuted the plastic inside and remove the springs for make the bed for the li-fe baterys)

-Right on place...

-The li-fe baterys on place....

-Alloy shocks!

-The last owner had made holes for the back shocks... i don't know why.. but i fiber the holes to keep the original stand.

Ps: ahah, miniz board! ahah. just to keep you informed.. but not yet on photo!

Mais um tempinho livre...

-Stock vs stock

-Pinion out with pinion puller! Otherwise is a pain in the *** to get ou!

-Some alloy in :stirring:

I got more pictures but need to put them in here! Until then! :lmao:

-This alloy pieces was very hard to find! But i managed to get them! Now i can start the miniz board... "mechanical" is done :stirring:

Allright , rc board time

I removed the "3004" fets and solder 2+2 "3001" fets from my other projects that got laying around, and i made the job right!

-This was the board from my kyosho mr01... that now goes to this gen1 with upgraded fets
Note that the on/off is soldered to improve power loss, from the swicth!

-I puted the gen1 servo 5 wires ready, and conected them to the mr01 board!
Two wires must be wired together form the pot! because de mr01 board as only 4 wires for servo! But you all now that!

Nice photo diary! This makes me miss my Gen1 XMODS.
But after picking up a Mini-Z 5 years ago, I haven't touched any of my XMODS.

Put a miniz board (AM or 2.4ghz) on all of your xmods, and you will touch your xmods a lot more!
And you will forget a little more the mini-z's! A little more i say!
