I just purchased a CORE system and thought I would offer up the Laser Counter I've been using. It was purchased from a Hobby Shop that used it as their racing counter until they too got a CORE system. It is a very well made unit that can count 6 cars at a time. It works via a network cable plugged into the special keyboard that allows it to use any lap counting program that can recognize keyboard input (keys 1 thru 6). The free version of Alycat works awesome with it. The lasers are commercial grade, they are not just ones taken out of a laser pointer key chain. I've never known it to miss a lap. The lasers alone on this counter would run $180 to buy. All of the circuits used on this lap counter are profressional quality and made by somebody with far more knowledge of electronic circuits than I will ever possess. The control box also has a small led readout to indicate that the lasers are properly aligned.
I'm looking for $150 shipped for this lap counter. Please PM me if your interested.
This one requires the use of the keyboard as it triggers keyboard strokes when the laser signal is interrupted. I would guess that it could be modified to work with a serial configuration using some of the schematics available on the net. The nice thing about it triggering keystrokes is that most any lapcounter software allows the input method and some of them (ala Alycat) allow you to use the free version with this input method.
Is it sold? Do you need a laptop or just the keyboard? Do I understand I would need software from a nother source? I would like to buy if still not sold.
Give me more details!!
Thanks

It is still available. The included keyboard will plug into any computer and then the lapcounter triggers the key strokes through it. It also works as a normal keyboard as well. Please email me through my profile and we can hash out the details.
