wheel diameter question

Not sure if this is the right place to ask this, but since it has to do with the wheels that come with certain bodies, I placed it here.

The Porsche 962, Mazda 787 and Sauber come with smaller diameter front wheels on the cars. Its my impression that this causes the front end of the car to be more aggressive in handling. Is this correct?

I'm not 100% sure about handling, but I do know for sure that the 102mm LM cars you listed come with the smaller diameter wheels along with specific LM type tires that are thicker (or taller sidewall) in the readyset and autoscale. I think most who race 102mm LM cars will opt to use the larger diameter wheels & tires that come on the other non LM cars due to wider options in tread & compounds that are available. I believe the difference in size is 17mm wheels for LM and 19mm for non-LM. But to your point I know those who race seriously have tire truers to true front tires to a smaller overall diameter to improve handling. Some clubs have a shared truer that members have access to as it's a spendy item. I hope that helps, and I'm sure others can chime in to add more info. Good question though.

The kyosho LM tire is one of my favorite kyosho tire. My LM cars, I like them on 18-19mm front wheels after truing the tire flat. Standard wheels are 20mm.

The smaller outside diameter of the tire reduces the contact patch of the tire, but the additional sidewall height gains traction. I find it to be one of the most versatile front tires, and works in many different conditions and can handle many heat cycles. I run LM front tires on many of my non LM racers as well.

I never see LM tires available for purchase. Do they come in different temps and where do you find them? I was interested in some higher grip classic tires awhile back only to find they had been discontinued. I thought only the standard racer diameter was available these days. I currently have a 962 whitebody I'm working on and I'd love to put LM tires on it for a better scale appearance.

They're not too hard to find, what you're looking for is:

MZT302-20 - rears, the -20 at the end denotes the softness, you can get -30 as well

MZT301-20 - fronts.

These are 4-packs, so enough for 2 cars or 1 tire change. I find the kyosho 20 compound to be entirely grippy enough on RCP. I see several at the well-known auction site right now for around $13 shipped. Here's how they look on the LM wheels.:
