Mbmzr @ lgr - 01/28/2012
MBMZR's first event of 2012 will be held on January 28th. It will be a one day multi-class event, held at the new LET's Go Racing facility at the Myrtle Beach Mall.
The racing will take place on a large elevated layout similar to our previous events and club races.
We have plenty of pit space with electricity. You just need to bring your power strip, pit mat, and light.
I am going to be running a beginners class (and separate kids class if we get the participation), Kyosho Stock, GT2, and one more class. I am leaning towards a mod class for hatches, but only want to run it if we will have participation. I would opt out of that for F1 or Can Am 1 or 2. Local participation will be strongest with the mini class, followed by Can Am 2, and lastly F1. Post up if you would run a 90mm narrow class with narrow 0s all around, or if you would prefer CA1, CA2, or F1. I want to make the decision in the next week or two, so every one has time to prepare a car for whatever it is we decide to run. Rules for all classes will be in the following posts.
Pricing will be:
Friday
$5 up to 3 hours of practice, or $10 for all day. $5 transponder rental.
Saturday
$20 for the first class, and $10 for each additional class. Practice is included for the morning of the event. Transponder rental will be $5 for the day.
Tentative schedule:
Friday
10am-7pm - Open practice
7pm-9pm - Controlled practice
Saturday
8am-10am - Open practice
10am-11am - Controlled Practice
11am - Drivers Meeting
Racing to start immediately after the drivers meeting is finished.
I will post the rest of the schedule as people respond, and I find out how many participants we will have.
Stay tuned for other updates, and post if you are planning on coming out.

LOCATION:
The Myrtle Beach Mall
10177 N Kings Hwy
Myrtle Beach, SC 29572
If you look at this map (it's hard to read) we are in number 70.
It's in the green section, in the middle of the middle section. If you come in by the theater (Carmike 12), you turn right, and we are on the right. If you come in the entrance just south (left on the mall map), you come in and turn left, and we are on the left. As early as most of us are going to be showing up, the prime parking spots will be available. The entrance next to the theater is closer for those parking in handicap spots, otherwise, they are equal. The bottom of this map faces the main highway (17), so you need to come around the back of the mall to get to those doors. I usually come in around the Bass Pro end, as it will be bring you right to the doors I recommend coming into.
HOTELS:
As you know, Myrtle Beach is full of 'em There are a number of hotels on the beach, and we are very centrally located between Myrtle and N Myrtle. Any hotel you chose won't be too far. I will give links to a few that look like good choices to me. I don't stay in hotels too often at the beach so my experience is limited.
The Fairfield Inn is the absolute closest hotel, and is less than a quarter of a mile away.
There is a Courtyard by Marriott at Barefoot Landing, which is right down the road, and is a shopping and restaurant mecca for those bringing family along.
If you don't mind a 10-15 minute drive to the track, you can find numerous hotels at the beach for under $50. This is the off-season for tourism here, so all hotels should be very affordable. Of course expedia, or hotels dot com will hep you find the cheapest ones.
Feel free to make any recommendations you know, or ask me any more questions you might have. Look forward to seeing every one again!

What class cars are to be used in the novice as well as the kids classes? Can anyone entering either class run in both?

Novice is for beginners over the age of 15. The kids class is for 15 and under. Any one choosing to run in one of these class is only eligible for that one class.
The body rule for those classes is:
Body: Kyosho ASC, White Body or equivalent (R246, TRP, Iwaver, X-Mod, etc...) hard plastic bodies allowed, including LM-LeMans Prototype bodies

Sounds great Bill! I'm surprised, and excited you are coming down for this Let me know when you are flying in, and Ill see about getting you some transportation from the airport to the track. If you get a room at the Fairfield Inn, I'm sure we can work out rides there too. Also, a taxi should only be a buck or two...whatever the minimum is. Just trying to help save from renting a car Also, I don't what you would need that would be hard to transport, but you are welcome to anything in my pit boxes. Ill get you onto the driver's list!
FWIW, there are a handful of other drivers coming out who have not committed to what classes they are going to run. I will assume that all the classes will have a few more than what is currently listed.

Layout down. Tested last night. There are a few spaces I need to work on, but this should be the final configuration for the event!
The rhythm section in the back is tricky to get the timing on. Should be a good layout for some tight racing. Look forward to seeing every one tomorrow for some practice!
