What is the difference between kyoshos mini z, heipao's mini z and HPI's micro rs4. For fun will the heipao do just fine. I don't really want to get into racing i just want something to pass the time.
Do a search on the "Mini-Z Clones" there's been a lot of discussion on these knock-offs in the past.
The Mini-Zs have digitally proportional steering and throttle, the knock-offs don't. The short version is like this: The knock-offs are cheap, nasty and poorly manufactured toys.
The bodyshells are badly moulded and the chassis is just bad.
well these car are quite an expensive hobby. Once you start you pretty much CANNOT stop. Are you planning to play at the tracks ? If yes you should visit your local hobby store or tracks to see what is avaliable.
PS: it's just boring to run your car around a playground. The real fun begins when you master your driving skills on a track and start kicking some butt
2wd... although i haven't actually seen one, i guess they can be compared to auldeys... no proportional steering (either full left or full right) no proportional speed (either full forword or full reverse) and cheap .... put in the batteries and they're ready to go... hop ups if any, are limited... i guess it can be considered to be something to pass the time.
mini-z's
2wd... proportional steering (you can fully turn into any angle from full left to full right) proportional speed (any speed between full forword or full reverse... 1/3, 1/2, 3/4 speed) considerably more expensive than heipao's .... put in the batteries and they're ready to go... large array of hop ups to choose from... definitely can be considered to be something to pass the time. you'll need more time with this one especially when you start tinkering with them and start hopping them up.... as sc0627 mentioned, costs may pile up once you start hopping them up...
hpi micro rs4
4wd.... proportional steering (you can fully turn into any angle from full left to full right) proportional speed (any speed between full forword or full reverse... 1/3, 1/2, 3/4 speed) amongst the three this is the most expensive to run... you have to assemble it, buy electronics for it, and batteries (although i think they did offer a ready to run kit)... definitely can be considered to be something to pass the time... like the mini-z you'll need more time with this one especially when you start tinkering with them and start hopping them up too... large array of hop ups to choose from...
my personal choice - mini-z... it's a good entry r/c with lots of potential...
If you buy a heipao, you will wind up buying a mini-z within a week or so cuz the heipao broke... so save the 5$ that a heipao is worth and put it toward a mini-z... even if u get a heipao for 7.99 on ebay, its still not worth the 10 or so shipping... they sometimes charge... it is literaly a piece of junk you woul dhave better luck with a bit charge, or a radio shack toy, or something from toys R us.
Heipaos might be good if you have little kids that want to join in.
Once they're trained and want to move up, let them try your Z for a real eye opener.
