So recently I got back into working on my Mini Z instead of just having them sit around in my room as nice model cars. I had this FD3s white body for about 4 years. I messed up the original color I put on, got lazy, and of course it just sat around. Until now. I figured since I had a messed up body to start with, might as well use that as inspiration. With that said, here's the beginning of the build.
I started with a light coat of primer just to see what i was working with.
Decided to cut the bumper off and give it the ghetto drift look with the tube front end. It's all made from wire, glued, and then painted.
And mounted to the FD
Cleaned up some of the body lines, mounted the crash tubes, and made an intercooler. First test mount.
And as of today, here's how the body is. Gloss bright red paint.
Still needs a lot of work. Once it's done, one fender will be primered and some crash marks will be added to the rear bumper.

Finally got the primer on right. Didn't like the look so I changed it up a bit to make the fender look like a junkyard fender.
Finally reattached the front end and BAM all done. I'll be doing the window trim in black in the near future but overall, she's where I like her to be.
I like the job on the fender, think it turned out nicely. I've never seen a front bumper like that so bit strange but like the concept.
Thanks again Arch
The front is based off the tubed fronts that a lot of drift cars use. For example, here's one on a real S15. I think I made mine poke out a little too far but still looks decent.
i like the idea of making it look like a beater drift car. you might need a bit more bondo/primer work on the fenders i have to image they get clipped frequently. i always wanted to do a junk yard car... never got around to doing it.

Yeah that's understandable. I might add some primer patches to the rear quarter panels, maybe mess with the front fender again as well. It's honestly quite fun working on a beater themed body since you were less about the details but at the same time you need to think about details you need to add to make it look beat.
I actually liked that primer peel for a beat look, else keep it coming man.
Thanks mate. I'm actually working on an NA Miata body right now. I pretty much finished this FD body besides a few small things. I got back into 1/10 drifting too so I'm working on bodies for that as well. But yeah the Miata I got is now my current project.
I may revisit this body and do a revamp but as of right now, I'd call her done.
