A Mini-z or Micro RS4 - HELP!!!!

ALRIGHTY, well I want a mini rc for drifting. But I am stucks between two cars. Should I get a Mini-Z WRX STi, or an HPI Micro RS4 Lamborghini Murcielago. Thanks guys, appreciate any help/comments/suggestions/decisions ahead!

Overall, you might be happier with the Micro RS4 for drifting outdoors or outdoor running at all, and a Mini-Z for indoor drifting. If your new to racing, the Micro will handle better for someone new to the hobby, whereas the Mini-Z can be a bit squirrelly for some the first time. The Mini-Z can be run outdoors on clean paved surfaces. Have you looked into the Xray micro car? It's Micro-RS4 sized, but is shaft driven instead of belt driven, its a little more "protected" from dirt and dust. You can drift these too.

The Micro-RS4 will drift much easier and in the garage than the mini-z. The MRS4 is also a lot cheaper rtr than a mini-z.

Ok I think I will go with the rs4, but what about batteries? Does that come with like a cell rechargable pack? I have a 6 cell battery from my traxxas rustler so Can I use that? Or do I need to buy a charger separately? Thanks, any other detailed info would be great!!!!!!! (vids or pics

The pack from your Rustler will be too big for use in the Micro RS4. I believe the newer RTR's include a 6-Cell Ni-Cad battery and wall charger. If you want optimum performance, look into getting a Ni-Mh, or if you have the money, a Li-Po pack.

Mini-Z's are great for collecting, not much to choose from in the Micro 1/18 size for collections. I'd stick with Mini-Z's.

As an avid 18th scaler, I'd recommend an Xray M18 sooner than an HPI MRS4... might be a bit more $$$ but the M18s are nearly indestructable! Believe it... I spent a day at a skatepark having way too much fun on the available terrain and the Xray outlived the MRS4 by about 2 hours! (I ran there for about 2 hours, 5 minutes! ) The shaft drive on the Xray makes for a very balanced little RC car and tuning is nearly as easy as just getting the right ride height and the right tires.

I don't recommend jumping any RC car up a 10 foot quarter-pipe and going off the side to watch it nearly crater into the macadam upon re-entry, but it did drive away from that with no issues. (I'm sure luck was a huge factor here though) It is fun to do though. I still race this car, and actually won a few races with it.

Any 18th scale is a great entry level on-road RC if you have a nice area to race it. Although, if you want to run indoors, at home... the MiniZ reigns supreme!

And by the way, you can grind vert with an M18!... highly entertaining!
