My son gave me a Megatech High Torque Motor for XMAS for my stock Mini-Z and it recommends a 10-12 pinion gear.
Megatech recommends their own heat sink motor mount.
A fellow mini Z Racer says the existing motor mount can be modified but he says the motor is not that great !
I know the Megatech motors are a bit longer and you may have to open the stock motor mount a little. If you get the alloy mount(Megatech) you may need the ball diff to go with it.You may be able to shim it for a standard diff. You may need the pinions to.I don't know but you may need a turbo or fet upgrade to run it.I am not sure some of the experts may help here.
The MZR.com motor is about the same price as the megatech... yes it will fry your esc unless you have a pretty high stack of fets. I would put carbon brushes in it before even trying that motor. The mega tech is also in speed slower than xspeed and faster than stock... it just sucks.
