requirements

Would you mind terribly posting the minimum requirements to run either version of the Core system. Pentium2, gazillion megabites, Partridge in a pear tree, etc, etc.

Thank You very very much

PIII, 1GHz, 512M RAM. Not much by today's standards...

transponders

Thank you for the response on system requirements. I now have that covered so I guess the next question I have is about transponders. Where can they be purchased? Are they available in smaller sizes? I received an even dozen with the system but would like to have more, especially the one that seem to sandwich under the front bumper of an F-1 car (somewhere in MZR forums).

Any additional information and guidance will be sincerely appreciated.

Hi Mike,

We will have the F1 style transponders available for purchase when the new system is released. The new core system will be backwards compatible with existing transponders.

great to hear about the small transponders. Is the new core system the one being released by Kyosho? will the old system read the new transponders?

it's not a total loss if they don't.... just means continued sales of the existing transponder types vs. a switch to whatever the new brand will be. the plus side will be that everyone with a pre-kyosho unit can still take thier cars with tags to any track with either system.

i'm just as curtious to see if there are any changes to the new transponders as the dnano tags look much different. not only that, i'm affraid there will eb a heft price increase for that pretty looking tag we all know these tags are dirt cheap in stock form.

The new transponders are very small and custom made for the car. Kyoho really doesn't add any markup to the car for this feature. It's a value added feature that keeps their cars unique and a step above anyone else's. Essentially, you are getting lap counting ability at their cost for each car.

The new core systems will read both old and new transponders fine. But, the old core systems won't be able to read the new transponders because of hardware limitations (nothing artificially imposed by us, just a hw limitation of the older design).

thanks for the info on this. it's great to know. Although I'm not particually happy with it, but it's understandable as hardware improves.

one question on this though, Will you continue to provide transponders that will work with the old system? or will only the new ones be available?

I'd hate to have to upgrade to a totally new system because the transponders became unavailable for my system. there are lots of us running the existing core system and until the Dnano is released in the US and the Mini-Z gets an intgrated transponder I don't see a need to upgrade.

Do you have any info on when the new Core (Kyosho) version will be available and any pricing info?

additionally, what specific USB type cable should be used to extend the cable from the timing loop connector to the computer. Would it be better to add double connections to the computer end or a single from the timing loop end. Thanks
