What is the name / size of the onboard socket on the MR-03 Sports?

Hi,

I have an MR-03 Sports and it has a socket on the car's PCB for a 4-pole plug for something like a lighting set. I would like to buy such a plug to attach something else, but I cannot find them as I don't know the name / size / coding of such a plug. Please advise.

Cheers,

Hugo

Accessory port. there is a wiring diagram floating around here somewhere.

be aware, the accessory port on S series is not wired the same as it is on an ASF/MHS board. it does NOT have the I.C.S. functionality.

The S manual labels it as the light unit connection socket. Page 33

Thanks, but I am looking for the name of the plug to stick into the port. So I can find such a plug and use it to hook up my transponder.

Cheers,

Hugo

timely question, I need to replace a few on transponders and confirmed with I-Lap they are here. I-Lap customer service is excellent/superior btw. you'll need the crimp sockets and crimp tool.

You won't be able to run a transponder from the accessory port on a sports model. It is only to power lights. The reason I say this is for a couple of reasons. First the port does not put off enough power to supply the transponder, second that port only provides power when you hit the gas or the brake. This is done to light up the headlights or brake lights.

Hmmm, thanks for chiming in. Bummer. So I guess I need to solder it to the board. I don't like attaching it to the battery terminals because then the transponder doesn't shut down with the car. Or is there a better / easier way?

Cheers,

Hugo

I know what you mean. I wish my transponder would shut down on my sprort like it does in my other. However it is good as it gets you in the habit of always removing your batteries and not leaving them in the car.

use ring terminals, cut a clot out and secure them to the battery terminal connections on either side of the car. no soldering required, you'll still have to take the batteries out unless you wire in a switch. i've not seen anyone do that but always an option.

Even though it is for the lites it still has to have a positive and negative connection. Don't the lites go on and off with the vehicle power switch?

If I remember it correctly there is a dial on the sport transmitter to turn on the lights. The other dial on the transmitter adjust the amount of steering travel sort of like duel rate would. Surprised that it would not be able to power up a transponder.

I would think that if the polarity could be sorted out then why not.

The lights are not always on. The headlights come on under throttle and the brake lights come on during stopping and reversing. If someone has figured out how to get a constant on from it let me know please my son always asks why his dosent plug in like mine
