great collection arch2b... wondering... while using for them for 10 years... did they develop any kinks or dents? like has durability ever been an issue while racing? i ask because most of mine are on shelf queens...

thanks for posting guys... squares really complete the look of these autoscales...

i did manage to put a good nick in the outer rim face of a pair by running a modified mr-02 outside on asphalt and loosing the car in a pot hole a couple inches in size. enough to swallow the car. the front wheel hit the other side at just the right angle at absolute full speed. i kept using the wheels and just took a nail punch to tap the nick back out.

the common worry is they are delicate. i can attest to my personal experience that they are indeed very durable despite the delicate nature of the design. i've bent/broken far more plastic wheels over the years.

i think i do remember reading that fateful incident a couple years back... and it's nice to know that durability as well as looks are indeed a quality that one will consider when getting these rims...

found more pics...

kinda looked at this (rear wheel wells against rear tire orientation) and figured that the body might be actually designed for a 96mm setting (presently its at the L - 94mm setting)... don't really know if the real thing is designed or supposed to look this way...

Just wanted to mention that while doing inventory recently we found a bunch of Square wheels that needed to be added to shop.tinyrc.com. They are available now! Check them out and maybe we have what you're looking for!

As arch has said, despite their appearance the Squares are actually very tough wheels. My current set has seen two races, and I don't see any dents; as soon as I clean the dust off they should look good as new. The thing about Squares vs. any plastic wheel is that the hub is NOT a weak spot: you might manage to nick the face or the lip if you're traveling at insane speeds outdoors, but you'll never break the outer rim from the hub, and hence you will never DNF due to breaking a wheel. All you have to do is fix the dent.

If you're considering using these as dedicated racing rims -- which is perfectly fine considering their weight and quality -- my only advice is to not glue directly to the aluminum if you want to keep your wheels looking nice. Wrap two layers of Scotch tape (translucent, standard type) around each wheel, cut off excess tape with a knife, then glue the tire to the taped rim. Also makes tire removal very easy, just rip it off. No need to cut into your rim.
