Easy Lap transponder question

Anyone ever removed the guts out of the plastic case? I have a clearance issue using the Ferrari 599xx and need just a tiny amount more room and removing the plastic part will give me that.

I have, but it was accidental. The cases pop apart pretty easily. I had one come apart during a 8 min HFAY race and it eventually got wrapped around my front suspension. The only damage was losing 1.5 minutes of laps. It worked fine once I repositioned it. I have glued all my Easylap cases together since then, but I considered removing it. If you are worried about it getting damaged you could probably put some heat shrink around it with a hole cut for the sensor. The ILap transponders are heatshrinked. I would try it, the worst thing that would happen is you'd have to buy another one, which is not ideal but is only $20.

I run the same body and had the same issue.. I cut the case off and I did not have any problems with it.

I tried prying it open, but was glued together along one edge so I ended up cutting it open too.

Most people I know using these have de-cased them and heat shrink wrapped them.
