You should've bought your stuffs at RC-champ or Futaba at Akihabara.
yeah i know... my wife and i were in akihabara... got the map even (http://agusta.ms.u-tokyo.ac.jp/agusta/akihabara.html)
it's a long story that i don't want to even start... sigh...

But keep in mind Kyosho must be paying outrageous rents for the shop. Paying list prices on parts ain't too bad compared to the kits. I know what kind of area the shop is in.
yep... thus my statement... "to some extent it was quite unfortunate that the prices were as marked on the package… so i guess kyosho is doing a good job of protecting their distributors… that plus i guess you have to pay some sort of premium on things when you have a store in upscale omotesando (this isn’t the place to buy things as your wallet will definitely take a beating)…"
i can't begin to imagine how much rental rates are in that area...

Nice report and pictures though.
thanks

Does the shop carry rare and hard-to-find parts such as Batmobile; various F1 cars & parts, etc...?
hmm... now that you've mentioned it... i didn't recall seeing any batmobile and other movie cars i.e. mad max, back to the future, etc... as for the f-1 i did see parts and 2 body kits though (schumi and david c. - 2004 version)

Nice job herman. Very good pics. The new nsx bodies look sweet.
thanks, and wish i could've took better pics... as for the nsx...yes indeed they do look sweet

Speaking of Futaba and RC-champ in Tokyo, which shop do you think carry more Mini-Z stuffs? Is one cheaper than the other?

I may go to Japan during the hobby show next month in Shizuoka.

You lucky herman! I see they had two of those rare white and silver Porsche 911 GT3's! That looks like a Mini-Z lovers dream for sure....................I'm jealous!

I went to Omotesando Hills in 2008.
The Kyosho store was packed with people and I had the chance to test the circuit. I was with my 2 kids and my wife so I didn't buy anything (or perhaps I did, but don't remember ) . I wasn't shocked by the prices as I'm used to pay 40 euro for one autoscale in Europe.
The rental mr-01 was stock and while I drove it carefully there were a father-son duo who suddenly appeared with their highly customised MR-02 and every customer had to stop running because they had to "train"...
The building itself is very original (as a shopping mall I mean).
Designed by world famous architect Tadao ANDO, it's built around a spiral slope which means every shop is at different levels, and a huge staircase in the middle atrium allows to link the two sides of the canyon (serves as a multi purpose event happening zone)...

thanks for the additional info re: the architecture. Yes the design of the building is… different and nothing i've seen before, then saw a similar design in h.k. just can't remember who designed it first.

Solo, I'm sure Herman would appreciate your comment. Sadly, it appears Omotesando is long closed. What a beautiful place though. Surely it was Mini-Z heaven.

I just found out that Kyosho opened a store in Tokyo again. Looks like it's more of a Diecast store with some Mini-z stuff. It's Kyosho Village. http://www.kyosho.com/jpn/shop/kyosho_village/

It's in Odiaba "Big Sight" where Toyota Land and Venice Hall Shopping Mall is. You can make it a day trip there in lots to do of shopping & sight seeing.
