Exclamation Online Mini R/C Points Series

O.M.R.C.P.S

I thought that this is a good suggestion by Imxlr8ed, I think we need to talk about doing this. I know there are a few of us out there with RCP tracks and Core Timing Systems.

A few of the clubs that come to mind are:

Dorks on Wheels (Pennsylvania)
Mini-AZ (Arizona)
DC GTG (Washington DC)
Salt Lake Mini-Z (Utah)

All we would really need to do is define the classes, rules, points system and come up with tracks that everyone can make with thier available tracks kits, and update a website with the results.

My first suggestion would be to have a STOCK CLASSS that will just be limited by the stock motor and stock PCB, or possibly a stock PCB and a Specified Motor (perhaps a PN Speedy BB) that doesn't require any PCB or FET upgrade.

other things to discuss would be Timed Race or # of Laps (doesn't really matter to me)

Please add your feedback here and see it this is something that everyone would like to do.

Brian

lol... I was just asking about this on the other thread.... who was gonna start it !?

Thanks Brian !

I say we adhere to the PN rules... very simple, yet very steadfast. We will have to assign motors to the drivers, and then retrieve them after that days event. (that way, there can be no mods to the motor, they must be numbered as well) I'm sure a supplier would be happy to provide motors for this event. The club leaders will have to be responsible for drivers adherence to the rules. As far as race time, I would say 8 minutes is usually enough time to sort the drivers out. Track design will be key, all participating clubs will have to give the measurements of what kind off space they have to work with. That way, we can nail down the best size track. I also was hoping that this would be a once a month (or once every two month ?) kinda thing, that way, we don't have to run a smaller layout all the time. We should probably set something up between our 2 clubs to test the "theory" first, I'm sure arch2b will want in as well ! Maybe try for the middle of December ? Hope this turns into something big !

I'd be curious to know if PN has ideas as well ! Look forward to it !

Well I figure that most us us can only travel within reason for our little hobby. This way we can do a points series Nationally or Worldwide, with no real expense. It will also allow us to see how we compare with other that enjoy the same thing, maybe push ourselves to become a little better.

What are you thought? Everyone will be welcome to join in.

Well as of right now. We have 5 wide L tracks available. (I will be adding some wide inside corners, and some 45 degree sections, and a expansion kit later) however over the winter we are limited to a garage, so our track size will be limited some. I can see if we can over come that for these races though. We should be able to move back outside sometime in March or April.

I'll need to read over the PN rules, but I'm sure that they will be fine.

Do we want to stick with one Class? or try and do more.

I know our club members will only fit into the stock class, because that is what our rules allow, and most only have 1 car.

I would say for now... just stick with a stock racer class, my next pick would be F1... if things go well for the first one, maybe a modified class the next time.

I say we shoot for Sunday the 18th of December, how's that sound ?
(we all don't have to race on the same day, but it would make it feel more "live")

All of my drivers have cars that have stock fets. (I put most of them back on personally !) No problem here.

We have a few members that work on the weekend, we have a race scheduled for the 15th of December. I guess that would be close enough, At least to test this out. We do have a race this Thursday, if you want to test this out sooner.

do we just want to have 1 main and just race for time? how do we award points? by club, or should we wait until all races are done and assign points by fastest times, for everyone.

this is just an idea as i wont be racing with you guys and all but maby think about a web site that streams the race data on it so you can check it from race to race it would be pretty cool to check your standing after you race well thats my 2 cents good luck with the idea

I can do up track drawings, so everyone know the right track configuration. it would look similar to the attached sample.

I'm doing Layouts for John @ RCP Tracks, so when I get them all done it will be easy for every one to know what track were are racing at that given time, of course we can still make changes if we wish, you got to love the versitility of the RCP...

Ya this would be cool. Our club routinely uses 4 wide Ls in our layouts, though a 3rd member now has 1 wide L himself so theoretically we could have 5 Wide Ls. I think a layout utilizing at least 3 wide Ls would be good and should be feasable for most areas. We're lucky that we have access to a clubhouse with an area that is roughly 35 sqare feet. Though we use mostly 25 square feet in our layouts so we can pit in the same room and move around the perineter of the track without stepping on it.

Our club is made up of mostly stock cars so the stock class would be fine. 4 of the 6 current members have F1s that are stock as well so a stock F1 class would also be feasable.

With so many racers potentially viaing for the same points maybe a scale like 10, 8, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, would work.

As for one page for the stats there would have to be 1 person we send them to and he could post them or maybe a page could be biult were you just log on and enter your #s and the page would shuffle the racers around as needed. Only 1 person from each club should have access so that any friendly rivaly doesn't turn ugly. It would need a cool background and show each events stats as well as a current overall points standings.

I don't have any of the 45s yet, I'd stay away from those.

Thursday, the 15th of December would be fine. I'll check with my guru about the website. I'm sure MZR or PN would want a crack at it too. Hmmmm, we could just post the first set of matched track results on this thread that Friday morning. I we can't score handouts by then, we'll just make sure our guys are running Xspeeds or PN Speedy05s.

Also, about the track, the club with the smallest space dictates layout. I have to build what you do !

I'll let my crew know.

As far as all the tech stuff with the Core points system, and how we would do it... I'm lost ! Maybe there is a way to combine files, get it to print an overall ranking ?
Arch ?!?! Anybody ?

We can always just do comparisions, and total them up ourselves... the old-fashioned way !

Well as far as the test goes let's just stick with the stock motors, I don't think I can get ahold of them that fast. Our LHS only carries 1 or 2 xpeeds.

I don't know if you can combine the core data? maybe Core could chime in on this. I'll send a email to their support and see if they can help. For right now lets just plan on doing it manually.

I just meant that track as an example. I don't have the 45's yet either... I'll design a track tonight when I get home and post it so you can see. I'll need to see what will fit in the area we have.

edit: Email sent to support@corespeedway.com, hope to hear from them soon...

I can combine the CORE data from the HTML output files if no one steps up to it and that's what you want. If everyone sends their data to imxlr8ed and he sends it all to me I'll combine it and post it on dorksonwheels.com for viewing or download or whatever you want to do with it.

Heres that link to the PN rules:

http://www.pnracing.us/usa-rules.htm

I would say the frequency issue doesn't matter for us, the rest should work just fine.

Thanks for helping out Extrapickles !

Now, who is in, how much room do you have, and are all your drivers ready ?

Event will occur December 17th, must be willing to provide Core result htmls, photos of track (once conformed), and event, and insure that all participants will adhere to rules given. We will dump the results to Extrapickles or me after the races. Or, if a new results thread or actual site gets started by someone, we will post there. Our event at D.O.W. will start at 7:00pm, there will be no mains. (Winner will be determined by laps completed, and times)

My question:

Should it be solo runs ? (it seems the fair way to go)

I wouldn't mind doing solo runs, but 8 minutes for each driver. that could take a while to complete. maybe 5 Minutes?

One other thing is, we might want to make sure that the core setting are the same. Just to ensure accuracy.
