Mini-Z Monster EX readyset rerelease

Kyosho's Taiwanese distributor has just posted a video announcing the rerelease of the mini-z monster readyset. Interestingly, the video depicts the readyset with a black kt18 instead of the typical sports controller. The set will also come with a matte black madforce body and seems to include aluminium under plates and wheelie bar out of the box

The decision to release an EX readyset (asf) following the heels of their recent sports series and PRO sales is a strange one indeed.

Simply head over to Kyosho corporation's official yoo-toob channel and hunt for vids posted today; it is labelled 'Mini-Z Monster Ver1 3' with a space between the last two digits.

interesting indeed. trouble with sports series electronics and the Monster geartrain maybe? seems to work fine for Overland which is similar. Sports series has it's issues so i'm guessing it's a performance issue. surprised most that they are even continuing the Monster line given it's poor sales. I don't think the S Overland series has done well either, but then again, all they did was repaint the existing lineup and toss in a cheaper PCB. not really compelling reason to purchase.

Both the overland and monster have many design flaws. I am surprised that they did not use the buggy for a base on the new release. The monster is not durable enough for anything more than an x-speed, and even then... The majority of necessary chassis upgrades are no longer available.

With that said, I had a blast with my old monster, and even the overland (when we used to race them).

What chassis upgrades do you think the Monster requires?

The shock towers break easily, as do the pivot ball mounts on the servo box. Those are the most essential, second would be tie rod and knuckles...

if you cannot find the aluminum upgrade servo box and shock towers, make sure that you habe a few plastic ones on hand.

The drivetrain is pretty robust for about everything besides insane power... just pack the diff with heavy grease and its good to go.
