I have seen one in person in a shop back then.
By that time I was into Tamtech cars (1/24 Tamiya R/C) and was interested in that 1/40 scale full propo. Unfortunately, the 40PRO readyset costed something around $350
I remember in 1991 the Tamtech Car w/o electronics cost me $24USD brand new in Hong Kong. My very first real R/C car was a used Kyosho Mini Optima that cost me $25USD from a shop, however.

Interesting The Tamtech car kit w/o electronics costed $50 here in France, while the readyset was $200. Too bad there was no online shop back in the last century The Marui 40PRO was way too pricy. Well so is the Dnano now...
thanks for sharing... wonder what type of batteries they were using, and what runtimes were like... i remember another company can't recall the name... making a smaller scale proportional r/c a year or so after the mr01 came out... they came out with evo and subaru bodies with the wrc rally livery...
