I havent been there in a while. Last I was there in the summer for some 1/10 turf racing.

I would use the stock springs for some time, get used to the feeling of the car. Maybe pick up a multi spring set of the harder springs and see what you prefer. The McLaren is a heavier body (it was Ron's favorite modified body), so it does not do well with a softly sprung car. For the most part, spring rates are dictated by body and wheelbase. The more mass on the axle, the more it needs to be sprung. Adjusting springs for feel may help, but you need to watch out when going soft for the car bottoming out in the corners and over bumps.

The servo buzz is perfectly normal. That is the servo centering.

As for top shock vs disc damper, they serve two different purposes, but somewhat overlap. The shock supports the rear end, and controls longitudinal movement but has no lateral support, where the disc damper slows the movement of the rear end in all directions. A top shock can be omitted using a stiffer t-plate, which is often carbon. Or a frp t-plate with a stronger lower spring on the disc damper.

Most of the time that I use a soft t-plate, I use a top shock with it. The McClaren GTR is a little limited on clearance in the rear, so I do a configuration with a stiffer t-plate, or stack two frp soft plates together to support the rear with only a disc damper.
