Hey TNB, I have a few photos like that. Let's see, it was New Years Eve 2 1/2 years ago I think. Do they do that for the 4th as well? That was cool to do once, but I don't beleive I'll ever do it again. Not really that much interesting going on until the fireworks go off, and way too many people!
davkin,
They have fireworks here whenever they feel like it, i.e. New Year's, Fourth of July, the anniversary of a casino, the opening of a casino, the imploading of a casino (those are nice because then you get to watch the casino come falling down too), and so on. On Friday night, I went to the races where they had a fireworks show then last night as well. They spend $M on fireworks shows here--it is my understanding that one of the New Year's Eve firworks displays cost around $2M when 20 of the casinos pitched in together.
arch2B,
I've spent enough time in DC. It wouldn't be that bad of a place if it wasn't for all the politicians. The mall view is nice, but did anyone win a USD $4.9M jackpot with a .75 cent bet? That's what happened here. And if the public is spending $2M on fireworks in DC, more of those politicians should be ousted.
