Install: Mr-03 Double A-Arm
Great product from PN racing. Here is a picture of before and after of the installation.
After installation i noticed the knuckles had slight play, so i removed the E-clip that holds the knuckles to the A-Arms and added 2 shims on top of the shaft and put the E-clip back on. This does not change the height of the setup but it does eliminate the excess play.
I also replaced the springs that came with the kit, with slightly softer springs so I can get some suspension travel out of the setup.
Previous setup:
This setup did the fastest Stock GT time at the local track (Phea driving), but wasn't consistent.
Before taking the car apart and cutting
Pn instructions tells you to cut this part off. There is also a little tab that you will need to trim flat, the lower A-arm will hit that part.
Here is where I added the shims
Bottom side of the Double A-Arm setup
I have yet to try this setup on the track. But will return with results after testing. This kit was just thrown together for test fitting, I will also disassemble and add some lube/grease and certain joints for less wear and tear for the long run.
So far with this kit,
-I notice how there is less slop on the knuckles compared to the stock setup. If you grab the top and bottom on the wheel and wiggle, it will not move much.
-Suspension travel is extremely smooth, not sure how it will hold up on the long run since everything is metal on metal, but time will tell.
-All parts are extremely light, I should have done a before and after weight comparison. I can always just weigh the two front ends (stock vs. PN double a-arm) on a scale and compare.
-Tony

I've switched my 03, as well as 2 of the other guys that race with me. I'm under the impression that this is the best front end I've ever had on my 03, in fact after driving my car that is what prompted the 2 to upgrade from the MR02 to the MR03.
The PN MR-03 A-Arm front end Rocks.

Does anyone notice faster lap times compared to the old setup?
Taking in consideration that this is the only change you did to your car?
Or are times same but just more consistent laps?

After switching to the 1 degree camber lower arms, I think the double A-arm makes the car feel smoother off-power and generates more on-power steering. This is probably not necessary for Stock classes, but it definitely helps in Mod IMO. Without the 1 degree arms I thought the setup was junk, but I'm definitely a convert now -- I was able to match Grant and Stephen's 10.1xx fast laps at RCX and I am nowhere close to being as good (or practiced) of a driver as those two.
I would caution you that you should get a new stock top cover for the chassis -- the geometry of the double A-arm is extremely important to get good performance out of it and the top cover is needed to space the tower bar upwards the correct distance. Good luck with the front end!

my lap times have come down, and my consistency has improved as well. I know that our other guys have noticed the same with theirs as well.

@bcpzx3:
Just curious - would you share the rear setup of your chassis as well?

In the process of getting the front end a bit less slop i found out that the little blue washer that comes in the PN front axle kit makes a perfect sized shim for the top of the arm below the c-clip. Instead of fumbling with 2 shims and clip install (if you have it) the one blue shim. i found a nicer tolerance with less knuckle wobble on the through shaft.

Thanks for sharing that bit of tip. I do actually have the PN front axle kit that you mentioned. Yeah trying to keep 2 shims on and working the C-clip is quite a hassle.

Can't imagine the difference with using the stock cover, But i will pull it out and compare. Thanks for the tip Brian.

Thanks Brian for the heads up. I put back the stock top cover and see what you were talking about.
Updates:
- need to put some loctite on the spring screws.
- change springs to softer springs (the one that comes with it is extremely hard)
- put in 0.5 toe bar
- set camber to max
Car drives great and is very smooth around turns. I'm quite happy with the results from the upgrade. Only thing I would suggest is that PN should include the washers needed to tighten up the play on the knuckle between the A-arms. I noticed everyone else who runs this setup also has the washers on there.

Small wire cutter to cut off access and then use a dremel to grin down the rest to be flat & smooth.

Hi, guys. i need help here.
i am trying to install the c clip at the lower part of the arm (the end of the pin) and i loss one of the small c clip while the kit only came with 2 pcs of it.
can anyone suggest me what to replace with?
since i am in indonesia, i can't just send the replacement c clip only. the shipping cost will be too expensive.
thank you for the help.
