Question F1 Carbon Friction Plate Shock Set on 27MHz Chassis?

Does anyone know if the new Carbon Friction Plate Shock Set can be installed on the old chassis? I can't really afford an upgrade to 2.4 this.... year

So I'm looking to see if I can at least take advantage of this plate set system on my old 27MHz hardware. If anyone knows if it can be installed (without too much modification) let me know. Thanks

You should be able to use it, you would need to relocate the antenna. I screwed the antenna on the left side of the chassis, and drilled a small hole for it to fit through the chassis.

You may need to slightly modify the body for clearance for the damper as well.

additional info...
according to the kyosho support page click me...

"No. mfw16 - carbon friction shock set must be removed if body sets other than those listed below are used.
ferrari 248 f1
vodafone mclaren mercedes mp4-22"

or you can slightly modify the body for clearance as emu suggested...

i remember seeing a picture of somebody reconfiguring the carbon shock so it could fit other bodies... just can't seem to remember who...
hope this helps...

I am still waiting for this to be deliver at shop and have no clue if it will works well conjunction with PN F1 Pod and Mantix's T-plate set up since right now, rear end is just too bouncy with OEM springs.

Lucky for me, my F1 does use the MP4-22 body set, so I shouldn't need to modify for clearance

Thanks all, I'm going to go ahead and order it now.

I have a PN mount on my SP2 F1 with this carbon damper. I also have the Kyosho top shock mounted... Should work with the t-plate as well.

Finally came it and it does have installation instruction for 27 Mhz & 2.4Ghz like mine. Surprisingly does work well as is with PN Pod and Mantix T-Plate after removing stock side springs. Now rear end is not jumping around anymore in cornering and more planted. Will see how is it in next step of quest for more torque when PN 43T motor arrives in replacing current Speedy AD.

I see one good performance review but wanted to confirm further if this is a worthwhile purchase? Have you or anyone done further driving with the damper & can share your experience?

My car with the the PN pod ( biggest single improvement of all so far) green side springs, kyosho cb side plates and top shock, 2 degree gpm knuckles/blk springs upfront/0 toe bar is already dialed and just got the MW goodies wich should take it to the next level. Oh yeah Tires are standard issue kyo 20 rear 30 fronts.

Anyway any feedback on plates appreciated.

Take your speedy AD armature and put it into a new style PN can and your tq issue will be solved!! it is my favortite motor right now plenty of torque and high rpm's! BTW super soft t plates are now available!

Just a warning for people installing this on 27Mhz boards...

The provided screw for screwing everything into the metal part of the stand is a bit long... I actually screwed a bit too far and damaged a FET. That damage caused my 27MHz F1 to start acting crazy after getting beyond about 5 feet from my transmitter... or at least I suspect that its the problem because it worked fine before trying to install it

Will update when I'm certain that's the problem with my F1.
