94mm body for 98mm wheelbase MR-03 RWD?

Hello all,

I bought a brand new MR-03 RWD with a 98mm body.

What do I need to use a 94mm wheelbase body: do I need any additional parts?

Thank you for your help.

What body are you interested in using? You can pick up mz217, the mm2 mount which comes with a damper. While it is made for a brushless motor, it also works with the brushed motors. It is inexpensive, and can be used to easily switch between 94 and 98mm mounts. The negative of the mount is that it has clearance issues with some bodies, as it is taller than RM and standard MM mounts.

Thank you! I was not aware of that manual - it is helpful.

Do I see it correctly that I should not need any additional parts (only those which came with the McLaren F1 set)?

Thank you again!

The body I would like to use is a Ferrari 360 Challenge body - MZP331CR (the car came with the McLaren F1 body )

Would the MZ217 work for that or maybe I do not need any additional parts (as per my previous post in this thread) only the parts that came with the car?

Thank you !

I just took a look at the stock MM mount and you cannot do 94MM with it. You can do it with the MZ217 which really offers a huge amount of bang for the buck.

I actually just changed my Audi R8LMS to a 360GTC using an old Atomic 94MM mount I found cheap.

Cheers,
Jim

The stock rear mount will do 86, 90, and 94mm wheelbase with an RM t-plate or 86/90 with an MM. The mz217 MM2 mount is definitely the better option for 94mm if it fits under the body, which it should under the f360. For this you would use the MM mount in the shortest position.

The MM2 mount includes a disc damper, along with the midship motor position provides more steering, better stability and a more consistent rear end when transferring the weight to and from the rear end. It is the best bargain for setup in mini-z.

I got the MM2 for a 94mm option but unfortunately, it will only work with the brushless motor - the stock brushed motor due to the wiring and capacitor placement. Anyone had luck with fitting brushed motors with the MM2 pod?

You can move or even remove the capacitors from the motor.

A little sanding on the plate helps it drop in without any pressure in the mount.
This will reduce stress cracks due to temperature cycles.

I also took a file to the endbell to make it flush with the side of the plate. It is better to do the work to the endbell side plate than the shaft side.

Remove the Caps and other stuff, about 30 seconds of work with an #11 blade and you are good to go.

Cheers,
Jim

The caps were just carried over from the AM days to reduce noise and reduce glitching. I have seen no difference between motors with the caps and those without. I usually just leave them when they are on and dont interfere with anything, or remove when they do.

When the ASF boards first came to the market, there was a lot of confusion whether they were needed. On AM, if you had a loose cap, you felt it. When the AWD cars came out, with a different cap pattern, a lot of people speculated that the motor had more power than the RWD models, but it was only a cap change and not a winding change in the motors. It definitely had less glitching than the other models on AM, and I used that motor in a few stock class cars because of that. Now, it doesnt really make a difference.
