lower mah typically has a higher discharge rate. thus they are faster but you dont get as long a run time. honestly i run r1 900mah in both mod and stock.

Well, it seems to be about that time again!
This past weekend I found myself complaining about my brushless cars cogging & even my F1 performing poorly even after just pulling batteries either just fully recharged or topped up out of my charger. There was really no rhyme or reason as to why, other than the batteries are getting old or I'm miss-treating them. They are about 1 & 1/2 years old, is that really the expected lifetime of them when you barely use them a few times a month?
With my usage & care taking aside, which I will address in another post, what is everyone running these days? Things don't seem to have changed much.
I currently have been using Turnigy 900MaH LSD's that state they have 1.2Volts
Some off the guys have been using Tenergy 1000's & Eneloop XX's as well.
Here's a list of what I've found others to be using:

I have been using eneloop, and pretty happy with them. They aren't the fastest cells on the market, but are consistent, store well, and have some of the best long term performance.
When racing regularly, I would stock and sort race cells once per year. Typically in the buildup for the world championships. Now that I'm not racing as much, and cycling the cells as frequently, I prefer a cell that needs less maintenance and stores well.
The eneloop cells aren't really good modified cells, since they seem to throttle power once they get too hot. For stock classes, they have a less punch than the 750mah trp, r1, orion cells, but those cells are hard to come by now and need regular cycles to keep the capacity and internal resistance low.
In general, 750mah have higher voltage and lower internal resistance, so better suited for stock classes. 800mah cells are a good overall cell, and 900mah are good for modified. For the most part when I would look for cells, I cared a little less about which company the cells were, and more about the date of production of the cells. I always wanted the newest cells on the market, if they sat on the shelf for a few years, there was a gamble that some cells would be bad. Newest name brand cells regardless of company (excluding budget brands like tenergy), seemed to outperform the top ranked cells at the time.
My favorite cells that I had ever used were team scream 900. The performance was very consistent, and they delivered maximum power under modified power without throttling. Otherwise the R1900 was very consistent with slightly less power. When I wanted a more tame cell or a good super stock, I used atomic 800, orion 800, or trp900. In stock, the trp747, r1 750, orion 750 or my favorite budget powerhouse duratrax 750 were my cells of choice.
I would buy bulk, 60 cells at a time, and remove the low performers. Hoping to get around 10 good packs out of the 15 that I purchased.
Now, i just run eneloop... it really isn't worth the time and effort unless competing in a championship level.
With brushless, I feel a lower capacity cell would be the better option. Since you don't need the amperage capabilities of the higher rated cells, aand the lower capacities are typically lighter. I would often use my cells to adjust weight, and feel of the car, now that I am only using eneloop, it removed that variable, but it allows me to spend more time on setup and I get more track time.
