Offset question MR01 VS MR015
Hello!
I have a few bodies that are nice but only shelf queen at the moment.
And I would like to put them (sometimes) on a chassis so that I can enjoy driving them around a bit.
This is mostly true for a mad max interceptor body...
And so here is my question, are the offset of wheels the same from MR01 to MR015?
And so, can I run my interceptor with the wheels originally made to fit a MR01 chassis on a MR015 chassis without problems?
for other bodies I would accomodate to change the wheels but for this particular one, I want to run it in its original way... And so, wil buy an old MR01 chassis or a new MR015 depending on the answer...
Thanks a lot!
Pierro

The MR01 and MR015 are the same in widths so you should have no problems fitting the bodies and wheel combos together on the MR015 chassis. They kept it all the same just upgraded the front suspension to an MR02 style, but narrower.

It's only the MR02 that's different. I think the AWD also has the same offset as the MR01's MR15's, but the wheel mounts are different. I would go with an MR15, and if you can afford the extra cash, get the newest 2.4 version, you'll appreciate the glitch free operation's and the faster responce. The MR01's are always glitchy particularly the steering. I'm considering converting my MR01 to 2.4 rather than getting an MR15 for the sake of driving the older chassis for nastalgic reasons. But with the older PCB boards, the MR01's are sometimes a pain to drive. I'm sure changing it to 2.4 will solve a ton of issues.

Just take into consideration that if you plan to use an MR01 motormount, you must use an MR01 differential as well.

Thanks a lt for the info guys!
As it wil (at the moment) only be a show car, I will look for a 015 for the front, but not refuse an old MR 01 if I manage to get one cheaper than the 015.

Keep in mind that the offset of the mr-015 and mr-01 is the same for the front ONLY. The mr-01 has a shorter differential, so the width at the back is slightly narrower than a mr-015, which has the same width as a mr-02.

Are you sure? I thought the MR-015 was ment to replace the MR-01 just with an apdated front end? I did a conversion of an MR-01 to an MR-015 in an old thread on here and i just used parts from my MR-01 and MR-02 then baught a 015 color chassis and the 015 tie-rod and used the motor pod and ball diff from my 01 so i'm not totally sure about the rear width of the factory 015.

Hello,
If the differential is slightly wider in 015 than in the 01, it won't be necessary bad. At least for a body such as the interceptor! I don't understand why they made it with narrow wheel on back...
But I'll try to get a MR01 and 015 from different guys of the club and compare the two options before made any decision...
Cause if the body looks cool, perhaps will I drive it a little more at home. Just to see it chase around the sofa with his lightkit.
And so, a better chassis is the way to go...
If anyone has the two chassis, a little measure is welcome!

MR015 uses the same diff and motormount as the MR02. CG is lower, and the motor is placed more in the center, where the MR01 mount places the motor a little to the left side of the chassis. The MR02 setup is better, but if you already have the 01 setup, use that for a while, then step up to the MR02/015 rear end.
The width of the 01 diff is exactly the same as the width of the 02/015 diff, so the same offset wheels are used.

The width maybe the same, but don't they fit in the motor mount differently? I was wondering about useing a silver MR02 ball differential on my MR01 a few days ago. But I think I read some where that they don't fit the same motor mount.

Yes, the offset of the spur and motor are different thant he 02. You need an MR01 diff with an MR01 mount.
